Life Time Oregon Swim Team Weekly Update: 1/2/2024
Good evening,
Happy New Year. It was great to see so many of you back at practice tonight! Swimmers are welcome to make up a practice this week as there was no practice offered Monday. Please read the email below to make sure you are up to date with all current team news.
Developmental Meet Schedule:
- Friday, January 19th- Winter Classic Meet- Sign-Up is now open on Swimmingly! Online sign-up closes on Tuesday, 1/16 If you need a refresher on how to do this please refer to the following link: https://support.swimmingly.app/complete-meet-declarations
Chehalem Meet (USA)- January 6th:
- I am still waiting on more information from the host team. Right now, the plan is for AM swimmers (12&U) to arrive around 8:00 AM and PM swimmers to arrive around 11:30 AM. I will be sending out an email with more detailed information about the meet later in the week.
- Sign-up for this meet is currently closed and we cannot add more athletes. We received a late invite to this competition and the turn around was very quick.
- An entry list and up to date meet information can be found on our website.
Goggles Recommendations:
- Many swimmers and parents have asked me for goggles recommendations. Several swimmers have experienced their goggles falling off in races. While this is fairly normal for new athletes it still can be frustrating. There are googles that make this situation less likely to occur. These goggles usually have double straps and a removable nose piece. The Speedo Vanquishers, that can found on our team store: https://theswimteamstore.net/life-time-swim-oregon/team-equipment.html are a great option. You can also find these on Amazon. Other swim companies, TYR, and Arena have similar models that work as well.
Team Suit Try On:
- All USA swimmers should purchase a team suit and wear the suit to USA competitions. Team suits can be purchased from our team store. Since they have custom embroidery, they are non-refundable. I have a suit kit at the pool, where swimmers can try on a team suit before, they purchase. If you are interested in trying on a suit please come do so before or after practice.
That’s it for now. Please reach out with questions.
See you at the pool.
Coach Danny
