Coaches and Directors
Danny’s love for swimming began as an age group swimmer in Illinois. After years of competing, Danny decided to help start a new USA team in his hometown, Highland Park, IL. In the following years, Danny would become the Head Coach and help grow the team to over 300 athletes. In his tenure at Highland Park Aquatics (HPAC), Danny coached several National Age Group Top 10 swimmers, Junior National qualifiers, and many who would go on to continue their swimming careers at various D1 and D3 schools. However, when reflecting on this time, Danny is most proud that that the team was always able to maintain a “small club feel” even with its substantial growth.
When Danny relocated to Oregon it was not long before he was back on the pool deck. He started coaching with Current Swimming in Bend, and later became a Head Site Coach at Portland Aquatic Club. Danny also served as Oregon Swimming’s Head All-Star and Zone Coach from 2018-2020. Danny takes pride in his ability to effectively teach and train all levels of athletes in a fun and engaging way.
When away from the pool, Danny also works as a Middle School Social Studies teacher. He is an avid outdoorsman, and loves to camp, hike, ski and kayak. However, most of all Danny loves to spend time with his wife and two little boys.
Julie started her swimming career when she was 9 years old. She competed for Reno Aquatic Club in northern Nevada, where she developed a love for the sport. Once in high school, she competed for Galena High School in Reno, where she was 2-time team captain and led the team to their first undefeated season, regional title, and 2nd place finish at state.
Julie went on to attend Pacific University where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology with a minor in Psychology. While at Pacific, she volunteered in a PT clinic, developed her knowledge of injury prevention and athlete mental health, and completed a research project examining the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on student athletes' mental health.
Outside of academics, Julie was a top performer on the Pacific swim team. She was a 3-time MVP and was named team captain her senior season. She broke two school records during her time at Pacific. Julie was able to make many memories through swimming, and she understands that it is more than just a sport. Her goal as a coach is to help swimmers build relationships, make memories, and develop their skills in and out of the pool.
