Life Time Oregon Swim Team Weekly Update: 3/3/2024

Danny Weinberg

Hello Swim Team!

We hope that you all had a great weekend!  Here’s our weekly update!

Dryland + Meetings before practices

We are hoping to implement short dryland and meeting routines before practices.  Dryland is a term that is used in competitive swimming for any physical activity used to compliment training outside of the water. This can include stretching, basic body weight exercises and team building activities.  As swimmers advance in the sport dryland practices become more frequent.  For now, we are asking that developmental swimmers arrive at 4:20 for dryland and that USA swimmers arrive at 5:05 for dryland on a nightly basis.

Next Developmental Meet- Friday, March 15th

Our next developmental meet will be on Friday, March 15th at 4:30 PM.  We hope that all team members will attend!

Swimmers who have swum in our previous developmental meets were sent a sign-up link on 2/25.  See the article Complete meet delcarations as a parent/ guardian for more information.

New swimmers who have not created a Swimmingly account must do so to enter the meet. Please scan the QR code to create an account.  (Please do not scan the QR code if you already have an account!)

I have added 11&O 25-yard Freestyle and Backstroke races to the event list for this meet.  Only swimmers on our developmental team are permitted to swim in these events. USA swimmers will be removed and placed in a different event if they enter. I would love for our USA swimmers to pick 1-2 of the following events to swim at this meet (200 Free, 100 Back, 100 Breast, 100 Fly, 200 IM)

I'm hoping that many of our new swimmers decide to compete at this meet!  As we've mentioned before, our developmental meets are more like a "practice where we work on swimming in a meet."

Upcoming USA Meet

John Haring Memorial Classic @ Chehalem Aquatic Center- March 16th-17th

This is being advertised as a championship meet for swimmers that did not qualify for the Oregon State Championship meets.  Sign-up is now closed.

  • 10&U- Will swim timed finals during the Saturday AM session.
  • 11-12- Will swim prelims on Saturday and Sunday AM sessions.
  • 13&O- Prelims will take place after the 11-12 session on Saturday/ Sunday.  Times are TBA.

Quick Notes:

  • Several Developmental 1 swimmers have been swimming the full hour in recent weeks.  I will be reaching out to these families to confirm that this is something that you want to continue to do moving forward.

  • USA Team—Please try to order a snorkel and fins if you have not done so. You can find our recommended snorkel and fins under the “Team Apparel and Equipment” tab on our website.

  • Team records are now updated on our website (Meet & Events -> Team Records).  These records will likely fall frequently, but its fun to see our progress.  Team records can only be attained in USA sanctioned meets.

Please let us know if you have questions!
