Life Time Oregon Swim Team Weekly Update: 3.10.2024
Hello Swim Team!
We are looking forward to a busy week! Please read this email for all of your swim team news!
Developmental Meet- 3.15.24
We are excited to hold another developmental swim meet on Friday, 3.15. I know many USA swimmers are also competing on Saturday and/or Sunday at the Chehalem Meet. My hope is that many of you will still decide to swim the developmental meet too. It’s good experience as many of you are going to transition to swimming multiple days at meets in the near future!
We’re also hoping that many of our new developmental swimmers will opt to swim in this meet as well! It’s totally ok if you still haven’t perfected a racing dive or a flipturn! At our first meets, most of our “veteran” swimmers weren’t performing racing dives and flipturns, yet still gained valuable experience. You are welcome to swim any races you want! Please let me know if you have specific questions or concerns.
Please review the meet information and sign-up instructions on our website, by clicking HERE.
You can find meet schedules, and a current entry list for all swimmers who have signed up.
Please try to sign-up by Tuesday, 3.12!
Chehalem Meet (USA)- 3.16.24-3.17.24
Please review the meet page, by clicking HERE.
On the meet page you can find a “psych sheet.” This document shows where Life Time swimmers are currently ranked in their events. This is the number to the left of their name. This information was sent out because this is a prelim/ final meet for swimmers who are 11&O. 11&O’s who finish in the top 8 in prelims will qualify for the championship final. 11&O who finish 9-16 in prelims will qualify for the consolation final. The “Finals” session will be held on Sunday evening. More information regarding the meet structure will be sent out this week as we receive it!
Group Promotions
You may have noticed that we have had several swimmers move up groups in the past few weeks! We are extremely excited about this! At the beginning of the season in September, Developmental 1 and 2 were our largest groups. At the moment we have more swimmers on the USA team, especially in the bronze group! This is a testament to our growth in the last 6 months!
We wanted to share our updated criteria for moving up groups. This can be found on our website. You can access it by clicking HERE.
This document is meant for parents and swimmers so that they have a better understanding of the requirements and expectations for each group. As a new team, our groups might not look exactly like they appear in this document. While there are set requirements for advancement, it’s important to understand that all group promotions are ultimately at the discretion of the coaching staff. Lots of time and effort went into updating this document, and it aligns well with our mission:
Mission Statement and Objectives:
-
To provide excellence in professional coaching and programs to develop individuals to the best of their abilities to compete at the highest levels.
-
To provide an atmosphere that inspires swimmers to achieve their maximum potential through a strong work ethic, discipline, self-motivation and self-esteem.
-
To develop team unity where everyone encourages and takes pride in each other at all levels of competition.
-
To instill a lifelong love of swimming through enjoyment and accomplishment at all levels of swimming.
If you have questions regarding group placement and/ or advancement please reach out to Coach Danny.
Quick Reminders
-
Dryland + Meetings before practices
We are hoping to implement short dryland and meeting routines before practices. Dryland is a term that is used in competitive swimming for any physical activity used to compliment training outside of the water. This can include stretching, basic body weight exercises and team building activities. As swimmers advance in the sport dryland practices become more frequent. For now, we are asking that developmental swimmers arrive at 4:20 for dryland and that USA swimmers arrive at 5:05 for dryland on a nightly basis.

USA Team—Please try to order a snorkel and fins if you have not done so. You can find our recommended snorkel and fins under the “Team Apparel and Equipment” tab on our website.
-
Team records are now updated on our website (Meet & Events -> Team Records). These records will likely chnage frequently, but it's fun to see our progress. Team records can only be attained in USA sanctioned meets.
Please let us know if you have questions!
