Life Time Oregon Swim Team Weekly Update: 5.21.24

Danny Weinberg

Hello Swim Team!

What an exciting past week!  We had our final developmental meet on Friday, 5.17 and our USA swimmers competed in the DDAC Sextathlon this past Saturday and Sunday!  Once again, I have included all of our new families that are set to start in June on this email so they are in the loop.

No Practice on Memorial Day- May 27th!

Help us get Safe Sport Recognized (USA Team)!

We are in the process of getting our team Safe Sport recognized.  This is an important recognition that confirms our commitment to creating a healthy and safe environment for our athletes. Here’s more information from the USA swimming website: “The USA Swimming Safe Sport Club Recognition program allows a USA Swimming member club to demonstrate its commitment to creating a healthy and positive environment free from abuse for all its members through the development and implementation of club governance measures, Safe Sport policies and reporting mechanisms, Safe Sport best practices and training to athletes and parents.”

The final step to receive our recognition is for all parents and swimmers who are 13&O to complete a short online training course. Some of you may have received an email from Patricia Kerrigan, Life Time’s National Aquatics Program Coordinator last week which detailed this.  You can access the information HERE.

Thanks for helping us complete this recognition and continuing to create a healthy and safe environment for our athletes!

**We have several swimmers who will be participating on our team but are part of the Life Time day camp.  These swimmers will be offered a short swim team practice from 10:00-10:45 AM on Tuesday and Thursday.  Summer swim team swimmers who have swim team conflicts on Tuesday and Thursday, but are not in the day camp are welcome to come to these practices if you let Coach Danny know! We do recommend prioritizing the afternoon practice if possible.

All developmental team members will automatically be transferred to our Summer Swim Team starting June 3rd. The season, running through August 9th, will cost $375, billed in three installments, with a $25 admin fee for a T-Shirt, cap, and meet entries.

Lifetime + OHA Parent Drop-Off Procedures:

Life Time management, in accordance with the Oregon Health Authority (OHA), requires all children under 14 to have adult supervision on the pool deck unless participating in swim practice. Swimmers 13 and under must be supervised by an adult not affiliated with Life Time staff if they stay on the deck outside of practice times.

Quick Reminders:

  • Dryland + Meetings: We plan to implement short dryland and meeting routines before practices. Developmental swimmers should arrive at 4:20 PM, and USA swimmers at 5:05 PM.

  • USA Team: Please order a snorkel and fins if you haven't yet, available under the "Team Apparel and Equipment" tab on our website.

  • Team records and advancement criteria have been updated on our website. Please visit [Meet & Events -> Team Records] and [HERE] for more information.
