Life Time Oregon Swim Team Weekly Update: 6.10.24
Hello Swim Team!
What a great first week of summer practice! Please read this email for all of your Life Time Oregon Swim Team information:
Quick Reminders:
-
Practice Attendance: With the summer season underway, swimmers on the summer swim team or the USA team can attend as many practices as they like. We encourage you to try and get your swimmer to practice 5-10 minutes before the scheduled start time. While it can be challenging for those early times, arriving early allows us to have a brief meeting and review skills to prepare the swimmers for practice. Here is our SUMMER PRACTICE SCHEDULE.
-
Drop-Off Procedures: According to Life Time management and the Oregon Health Authority (OHA), all children under 14 must have adult supervision on the pool deck unless they are participating in swim practice. Swimmers 13 and under must be supervised by an adult outside of practice times if they stay on the deck. Swimmers who are 13&U are not permitted to play in the leisure pools before or after practice if they are not being supervised by an adult.
-
USA Team Equipment: Please order a snorkel and fins if you haven't yet. These are available under the "Team Apparel and Equipment" tab on our website. Please make sure to mark your snorkel with a piece of duct tape or your name. Also make sure you start bringing a water bottle to practice!
-
Summer Swim Team Equipment: We use swimming fins occasionally for developmental swimmers and beyond. Since we do not have enough fins for everyone, we recommend the Sporti Essential Floating Fins as an affordable option.
Summer Swim Meet Schedule:
We are tentatively planning the following dates for our summer swim team meets, all of which will take place at Life Time Beaverton:
-
Friday, June 21st- 4:30-6:30 PM
-
Friday, July 12th- 4:30-6:30 PM
-
Friday, July 26th- 4:30-6:30 PM
-
Friday, August 9th- 4:30-6:30 PM
All swimmers on our summer swim team and our USA team are encouraged to participate in these competitions, which promise to be a ton of fun!
Sign-Up for Swimmingly :
All swimmers need to either create an account with Swimmingly (new participants) or register for the summer season (returning participants). Swimmingly helps us set up and track the summer swim meets we host at Life Time. Swimmers will not be able to participate in summer swim meets if they do not register for the summer season or create an account with Swimmingly! There is no additional cost to create an account. Please follow the instructions below to complete this process:

Become an Official (USA Team):
Becoming an official is a highly effective way to volunteer and support our team. We always need officials to help our meets run smoothly. Benefits include free food, drinks, preferential parking, and the best view of the pool! Plus, Life Time won't charge meet fees for your swimmers at the meets you work.
When our team goes to a meet we are expected to provide officials. Oregon Swimming recommends that we provide one official for every 10 entered athletes. Our team is expected to help make the meet legal. Teams that don’t have officials often don't get asked to meets. Swimmers from bronze to senior levels all need to have parents officiating so that all the meets we attend as a club are covered.
Contact Coach Danny to get started.
Please let us know if you have any questions!
See you at the pool!
