Life Time Athletes Shine at the Oregon 11&O State Championships!

This past weekend, seven of our swimmers proudly represented Life Time at the Oregon 11&O Long Course State Championships held at Mt. Hood Aquatic Center in Gresham, OR. This marks an incredible leap from last summer, when we had just one athlete qualify. We are extremely proud of this achievement and the progress our team has made in just one year!

Congratulations to the following athletes:
Aurelia Anderson, Simon Boariu, Izzy Da Cruz, Sonia Ellefson, Bella Jones, Morgan Lee, and Elowyn Thomas!

Out of more than 60 Oregon swim teams, Life Time finished 19th overall—a remarkable accomplishment for our young program.

Meet Highlights:

  • Aurelia Anderson
One of only two Life Time swimmers to compete all four days! Aurelia had a standout performance in the 400 Free, dropping an impressive 6 seconds.

  • Simon Boariu
Simon had an outstanding weekend, achieving new personal bests in all six of his events. He placed 2nd in the state in the Boys 12-Year-Old 50 Free, and 3rd in both the 100 Free and 50 Back. Simon has also been selected to represent Oregon at the Western Zone Age Group Championships in Elk Grove, CA this August—congratulations!

  • Izzy Da Cruz
Likely the youngest swimmer at the meet, Izzy earned her spot in the 200 IM by swimming a qualifying time just before her birthday. Her progress this summer has been incredible, and she has a bright future in the sport!

  • Sonia Ellefson
Sonia dropped time in the 50 Free during her first-ever state meet and brought tremendous energy to the team by supporting and cheering on her teammates throughout the weekend.

  • Bella Jones
Bella competed in all three backstroke events and dropped two seconds in a time trial for the 100 Free. Her 50 Back was especially impressive, narrowly missing finals—a great debut for her first state meet!

  • Morgan Lee
Morgan’s 100 Back was scheduled for Sunday, but she came on multiple days to support her teammates. When it was finally her turn, she dropped two full seconds and delivered a fantastic swim.

  • Elowyn Thomas
Elowyn had a phenomenal meet, making finals in 5 of her 6 races. She earned 2nd place in the Girls 11-Year-Old 100 Fly and 3rd place in both the 200 IM and 200 Free—where she dropped an astonishing 16 seconds from her April time!

This meet was a major milestone for our program. Every one of these athletes began their swim journey with us when our club opened in June 2023. For many, qualifying for state wasn’t even a goal last summer—but through hard work, consistency, and dedication, they made it happen.

These swimmers are an incredible example of what’s possible when you commit to the process. Be sure to congratulate them when you see them at practice!
