Welcome to the MAC Swim Team!!!
This website (Multnomah Athletic Club Home) is a resource for you to learn about the MAC Swim Team.
The role of Swim Team Parent may be more confusing and complicated than learning the strokes, walls, dives, underwaters, heats and lanes, gear, and more. We have tried to put together many resources at your fingertips but recognize that there is just a lot to learn about.
Please be patient and recognize that you too will be an expert over time.
Recommendations:
Go to back to pool night if you can attend (every September, especially for new parents)
Review this website and ESPECIALLY the For Parents drop down menu and all the content. It will help to remember where you can find the information again.
Read all the coach emails
Meet Signup: When your swimmer is ready to compete at meets, you will need to sign them up. Coaches will mention deadlines in emails
Explore the events and competition page on this website including the attachments (pdfs and word docs) to learn about meets

Common Topics to learn about over time:
Gear -- what does my swimmer wear to practice and have in their swim bag for training. Where do we get our swim gear? It seems expensive, do we get a discount? What do they wear for competition? What should they have in their meet swim bag?
Meets -- when do they get to go to a meet? how do I know which meet is for my kid's level and not for other squads? how do I make sure they are signed up? when and where do we go to meet? what to bring? what to expect? how does my swimmer know what they are swimming? how can I see their times? are there mobile apps to follow their times? how do I deal with my swimmer's emotions at the meet? how do I keep my swimmer warm and fed and hydrated? What if my swimmer does not want to compete? what is a FUN MEET?
Volunteering. how do I know how to volunteer? how many hours am I to volunteer? how do I report my hours? what happens if we do not complete our required hours?
Dues and expenses. what are all the different fees that we are seeing --sport team, dryland, boosters assessment, meet fees, and more. How much does this sport cost?
Social activities. Does the team have social outings that are outside the pool ?
Moving up? my swimmer wants to be on the next squad. how do they move up? who do we talk to?
Is there a mentor program? Can I phone a friend? Are there any experienced parents who I can call or text with questions?
We have many experienced swim team parents. Reach out to [email protected] if you want to be paired with a mentor parent, we can make that happen.
