I have a passion for working with and helping navigate student-athletes along their individual paths.  Developing innovative ways to engage them at their level in a meaningful, purposeful, and productive manner.  

I believe youth-sport programs need a strong foundation to support all levels and should be community based.  I had the incredible opportunity of being coached by and coached under some of the highest level of high school, collegiate, and club coaches around. I look forward to continuing the levels of success athletes have achieved throughout my coaching career as a life-long learner of the craft, from completing their first legal 25-yard Breaststroke to their first Olympic Trials cut.

Coach  Jacob Ireland  is our  Lead Senior Group Coach .  Jacob swam for HSC from the time he was 6 years old until he transitioned to swimming for a larger team in San Diego.  In addition to coaching for HSC he is also the coach for the USA Swim Master's Group at the Arcata Community Pool. 

Jacob states that "Growing up as a swimmer, HSC taught me discipline when it comes to working hard to achieve your goals.  It also helped me establish countless amazing relationships that have carried on throughout my life, as well as what it means to be part of a team and to help those around you succeed.  I want to instill these principles into the next generation of Water Dogs just like they were instilled in me." 

Jacob has a deep love for the Humboldt Swim Club, and is looking forward to this larger role within our team.
