SAFE SPORT ABUSE PREVENTION PROGRAM

Waves Aquatics Napa Valley under the guidance of Pacific Swimming and  USA Swimming are committed to providing a healthy and positive environment free from abuse for all its members.  USA Swimming’s Safe Sport program, a comprehensive abuse prevention program, consists of a multi-layered approach to keep kids safe, including: required policies and best practice guidelines; mandatory screening, including criminal background checks and employment screening; training and education; monitoring, supervision and mandatory reporting.  These measures are informed by experts in the field of child safety and are among the strongest safeguards found in youth-serving organizations.

 

On July 27, 2020, Waves Aquatics Napa Valley was notified that it had become a recognized Safe Sport Club.

 Dear Team Members,

I am pleased to share our club has achieved USA Swimming’s Safe Sport Club Recognition.  This recognition reflects our commitment to providing a healthy and positive environment free from abuse for all team members.

In order to apply for Safe Sport Club Recognition, we were required to develop and implement club governance measures, Safe Sport policies and reporting mechanisms, Safe Sport best practices as well as training to athletes and parents.

All of these measures were reviewed by USA Swimming Safe Sport staff for approval.  The documents are available under the Safe Sport tile on our website.

Our Safe Sport Club Recognition status is valid for two years, after which time we will be eligible to renew for recognition.

We are excited to have achieved this milestone and to publicly demonstrate our commitment to providing a Safe Sport environment on this team.  Please contact the coaching staff or board with any questions.
