QUICK GUIDE TO STORM AQUATICS

MEMBERSHIP TRYOUTS

If you are interested in swimming with Storm Aquatics, you must tryout with one of our coaches. Please contact Head Coach Eric or Storm Vice President to schedule a tryout before you can register. This tryout will ensure that your athlete is placed in the appropriate practice group for their age and skill level.  Storm Aquatics is a competitive swim club.  Swimmers must be able to swim at least one length (25 yards) of the freestyle and backstroke to join the team.

PRACTICE GROUPS 

Bronze 1: Swims 3x per week/ 45 min 

Bronze 2: Swims 4x per week/ 1 hour 

Silver: Swims 5x per week/ 1 hour 

Gold: Swims 5-6x per week/ 1.5 hour

Senior: Swims 5-6x per week/ 2 hours 

High School Conditioning: Swims 2x per week/ 1 hr

HOW TO ADVANCE GROUPS 

Attend practice consistently. Advancing groups will require stamina and endurance that only comes with regular training.

Talk to your coach. They can tell you what skills you need to focus on to be ready to advance groups. 

 

SUPPLIES AND GEAR

 

  -Goggles 

-Swim Cap (latex competition cap provided)

-Competition Suit 

Storm competition suits are plain black or black with red trim detail. The straps on suits must be narrow. No mesh details or zippers allowed and suits cannot be high on the neck per USA swim competition guidelines. Suits can be purchased from any provider. Swimoutlet.com and Amazon are great options. 

COMPETITION AND MEET REQUIREMENTS

Meet participation is a valuable part of competitive swim and as such attendance is expected. Swimmers will be charged the Storm meet fee for all non-restriced, local meets the team attends (not to exceed 18 per season) regardless of participation.

Only participating swimmers will be charged for restricted meets and travel meets.

 

FUNDRAISING/VOLUNTEER OBLIGATIONS

Fundraising requirement of $625 for single swimmer, $875 for family. Half the fundraising obligation is invoiced in February (if you’ve raised less than $200/$300). Any remaining fundraising obligation balances will be invoiced in July. 

Corporate sponsorships are a great way to fulfill your fundraising obligation. 

Sponsorships are credited to swimmers accounts at 50% of total donation. Families are credited one hour of volunteer time for each sponsor secured. 

10 volunteer hours per family 

Unworked hours are billed at $50 per unworked hour the following September. 

Sign ups for volunteer opportunities are available on OnDeck under the Events tab.

BILLING INFORMATION

Important billing information, reminders, and deadlines will be communicated via the weekly newsletter. Make sure to check your spam folders to ensure you are getting up-to-date information from the Treasurer. 

Access detailed account information and make payments through your TeamUnify account and/or the OnDeck app. Sign-up via 

stormaquatics.net by selecting “sign-in” on the top left corner. 

BILLING MILESTONES

February: Half your fundraising obligation will be invoiced (with some exceptions). See the parent handbook for more details. 

July: Remaining fundraising balances will be invoiced if applicable. 

September (end of season): Unworked volunteer hours will be invoiced.

CHANGE IN MEMBERSHIP

Any changes in membership must be sent in writing via the Change in Membership Form and approved by the Vice President by the 25th of the month prior to change in membership status for the upcoming month. There are no partial month adjustments. The form must be emailed to [email protected].

SAFE SPORT

SafeSport is a program created by USA swimming to respond to and prevent abuse and misconduct within the sport of swimming. Courses for both youth swimmers and parents can be found on USAswimming.com under the education tab.

 

COMMUNICATION 

Email is our primary method of communication. It is used weekly for our team newsletter. It is important to read the newsletter each week to see upcoming events, deadlines and communication regarding billing and fundraising/volunteer opportunities. Coach Eric will also send out notifications regarding upcoming meets, both entries and meet day instructions via email exclusively. Please make sure emails are not being sent to the spam folder. 

The Team Bulletin Board is located poolside and has announcements, photos and information. 

Storm Aquatics Families Facebook group is a private way to share team photos, information, gear for sale and questions. 

SportsEngine, also referred to as our team website, stormaquatics.net, is another way to receive the weekly news. A copy of the weekly email is available under the NEWS tab on the homepage. 

SportsEngine Motion is an app that mirrors our webpage. You can download this app for free to your smart device for easy maneuvering. You can access event entry, volunteer opportunities, best times for swimmers and payment for your account. 

Meet Mobile is an app that gives you access to meet information, such as Heat Sheets and Race Results. This app does have a fee to use.
