Mavericks Swimming Coaches
Aaron Fischer
I am extremely proud to have hired this incredible team of swim coaches. They are the finest young swimmers, students, and leaders in our community, and in terms of coaching, they have taught me much more than I have taught them.
Zander Merrill
Senior - Half Moon Bay High School. I have a passion for swimming and water polo and I love competing in both sports. Coaching young swimmers is one of my favorite things to do because I enjoy sharing my skills and helping them develop a love for the water. Balancing school sports and coaching keeps me busy, but I thrive in and out of the pool.

Brigita Fischer
Senior - Half Moon Bay High School. I have been swimming with Mavericks for 10 years, and on the high school varsity swim team since I was a freshman. I have been a lifeguard for 3 years and a swim instructor for the Sheriff's “I’m Learning To Swim” program. This is my second year as an assistant swim coach for Mavericks, and I really enjoy working with such a great group of kids.
Claudia Charles
Junior - Half Moon Bay High School. I’ve been swimming my whole life but began swimming competitively in my freshman year. I quickly fell in love with the sport, and I want to help others feel confident and safe in the water too. Whether I’m teaching kids to swim or training with my own team, I always try to bring my best encouragement and support. I’m passionate about my community and the environment, and I hope to become a scientist. The pool has taught me so much about teamwork, dedication, and patience, and I’m excited to share that with everyone I teach!
Sean Rogerson
Junior - Half Moon Bay High School. I love swimming, I have many years experience swimming competitively, and I was recently a Youth Aid at Junior Lifeguards. I enjoy sharing my experience and knowledge to coach younger kids, and I believe in pushing every kid to swim to their fullest. Being around swimming pools is always my favorite place to be.
Juliana Sousa
Sophomore - Half Moon Bay High School. I swam competitively with Mavericks and the CSM Bulldogs for the last four years and swam varsity for the high school as a freshman last year. Last summer I taught swimming at Carlmont, which was super fun! I love being in the water and getting to share the sport with such a great group of kids. One of my future goals is to be part of the Trans Tahoe Relay.
