Upcoming Sergio Lopez Swim Camps
Sergio Lopez Swim Camps at Virginia Tech is excited to announce its Spring and Summer 2026 Camp Dates! This year we are offering two sessions of overnight camp in June along with 2 different weekend technique camps in April and May.
We would greatly appreciate it if you would share the information below with your swimmers and their families. We do offer discounts for groups for both our overnight and weekend day camps, so if your club is interested in sending a group along with or without a coach, please let us know. If you or any of your assistants are interested in attending camp sessions, please let me know and we can try to make that happen.
Overnight Camp June 14th-18th & June 21st-25th
Our overnight camp focuses on technique instruction of all 4 strokes, along with race preparation and mental training. Coach Sergio will be joined by the Virginia Tech coaching staff as well as additional expert university staff, camp counselors, and guest speakers to provide a positive, informative, and fun experience. Coach Sergio coaches the camps’ technique sessions, so your swimmers will have a chance to work with him. We offer additional early morning training sessions for swimmers 13 and older and a commuter option for those who want the full experience just without the overnight stay.
Weekend Camps:
Butterfly Camp April 25 & 26
During this camp you will learn to understand how to efficiently move your body through the water with every butterfly stroke. The butterfly stroke is focused more on your rhythm in the water than your strength. We will teach you how to feel your rhythm while still developing and maintaining power. You will learn techniques on correct body position, the importance of timing your kicks, and correct breathing while maintaining proper stroke technique. By the end of our camps, our goal is to help each swimmer become a faster and more efficient swimmer in your butterfly stroke.
Breaststroke Camp May 9 & 10
This camp will focus on perfecting all aspects of breaststroke including your streamline, body position, kick and pull. You will learn how to improve each part of your stroke and then practice and perfect it in the water. Besides the in-water work, you will take part in classroom sessions where the entire stroke is broken down and you will hear success stories and learn mental techniques to prepare you for race day.
