CCA Swim Team Needs Volunteers!
The Crestmoor Community Association Swim Teams participate in many meets throughout the summer and it takes many individuals to plan and execute these meets. This summer, we are hosting 2 home meets. When CCA hosts one swim meet, we need:
- 24 volunteers to time
- 2 runners
- 4 concessions volunteers
- 2 scorers
- 2 event number operators
In addition to home meets, we also need to provide timers for the A League Meet, B League Meet and the State Meet. Hiring people to time at these meets is cost prohibitive so we rely on families and our incredible community to step up to run these meets.
If you are new to swim team and/or find timing a bit intimidating, we want to reassure you that not only is timing easy, but it is also fun and a great way to get to know other CCA members. We do understand the desire to be with your families during meets and as you can assume, all parents want that. But without timers, we would be unable to have these meets! Without the willingness of other parents to time, your swimmer wouldn’t have the opportunity to compete.
CCA Parent Participation Requirements
Parent and community involvement is critical to fully plan and execute the aquatics seasons at Crestmoor. Simply put, without the all-hands-on-deck approach, these seasons couldn’t happen. Participating families are required to volunteer a minimum of three times per season. We ask that families with multiple swimmers sign up for an additional shift or two during the season. We understand that this is not possible for some families so there is an option to opt-out (see below).
By registering your child for the swim team, you are agreeing to the CCA Parent Participation Requirements.
EVERY family is required to offer a parent or caregiver to work at swim meets and/or team social events as follows:
- Swim Meets: A minimum of 2 shifts at swim meets.
- Timing: At least 1 shift must be for timing. Failure to complete at least one timing shift by the end of the season will result in a $100 charge added to your CCA account.
- Canceling: Canceling a shift within 3 days of a swim meet (deadline of Tuesday at noon) will result in a $100 fine unless a replacement is found by the volunteer who is canceling at the time of cancelation.
- If your child(ren) compete in B League, A League or State, you will be asked to help time in those meets in addition to your previous requirements..
- No-Show: Failure to show up for any shift, whether assigned by CCA or selected by you, will result in a $100 charge added to your CCA account.
- Families may opt-out of the parent participation requirements for $400 before May 31st. Please contact [email protected] to notify the team if this works best for your family.
- After June 16th any unfulfilled shifts will result in a fee of $150 in addition to any fees incurred above.
