The Stingers Winter Swim Program is a non-competitive alternative for swimmers wanting to be in the water all year, but not ready or interested in the greater time commitment of a competitive winter swim program. The goal is to become legal in all four strokes, develop stroke technique and efficiency, refine starts and turns, and increase conditioning while having fun with Stinger friends. Head Coach James Walsh will lead the charge for us again this year, and other Stingers coaches will provide support throughout.
Who Can Participate: The Winter Swim Program is open to lane swimmers only due to the depth of the pool. All swimmers should be able to comfortably swim 25 meters unassisted. Any interested Minis swimmers will need to have approval from Coach James prior to registration. Swimmers who swim multiple days in other year round programs (Machine, Makos, NCAP, Foxes, SWB, Marlins, etc.) should not sign up for Stingers Winter Swim.
Registration: Registration opens Sunday, August 17th at 8:00 AM on the Stingers registration page. The Stingers will offer two sessions this year. While there are no official age requirements, Session 1 will be geared more towards our younger swimmers (12 and under), while Session 2 will focus more on older (11 and over) and more advanced swimmers. We ask that all 8 and under swimmers sign up for Session 1 if possible. Please only sign up for one session per swimmer.
When and Where: Both sessions will be held at Audrey Moore Rec Center on Sundays.
Session 1: Sundays, 6:00-7:00 PM
Session 2: Sundays, 7:00-8:00 PM
The program will begin on September 21st, and will run for 35 weeks ending on May 17th. No swim dates for this year include November 30th (Thanksgiving), December 28th, January 4th (winter break), January 18th (MLK), and April 5th (Easter).
Cost: The cost for the program is $325 per swimmer plus Team Unify and credit card processing fees. Payment is due at the time of registration. The Stingers have a NO REFUND policy. If we have swimmers on a waitlist, a prorated refund may be offered in order to assign your slot to another swimmer. No refunds will be offered if there are no swimmers on the waitlist.
Attendance Policy: Due to limited lane space, we will have an attendance policy for winter swim. All swimmers must attend 50% or more sessions. If a swimmer is attending less than 50% of sessions and we have swimmers on the waitlist, the winter swim coordinator, Coach James, or I will contact the family. The family will be notified that their spot is revoked, a prorated refund will be offered, and the spot will be given to a family on the waitlist.
