The CASCADES RAPIDS SWIM TEAM is open to Cascades community residents from 5-18 years of age who can swim 25 meters unaided with their face in water (i.e. forward crawl/freestyle). Our well-credentialed coaching staff will teach and develop proper stroke technique in freestyle, backstroke, starts, turns, finishes, as well as educate on the effective use of swimming equipment. Butterfly and breaststroke will be introduced based upon swimmer’s abilities.
Practices are divided by age: 8 and Under, 9-10, 11-12 and 13 and Up. All practices are structured to provide a fun, yet instructional workout for the beginning swimmer and a more challenging program focused on speed, endurance, and racing techniques for the more advanced swimmers. While this is a developmental program, the Rapids should not be considered a substitute for swim lessons. Lifeguards will be on duty and safety will be stressed at all times.
The Cascades Rapids compete against neighboring community swim teams throughout the Colonial Swim League. All swimmers have the opportunity to participate in several races within their age group on Wednesday evenings while the team’s top swimmers compete for league standings on Saturday mornings.
