Training Groups & Schedule 2019

 -Practices are held Tuesday-Friday at Clunie Pool in McKinley Park (601 Alhambra Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95816)

 Morning Practice: 10-11AM

 Evening Practice: 7:15-8:15PM

 -Our season begins on Tuesday (6/18) and ends on Saturday (8/3)

 

 

 

Ages 7-8 (Green Group): This group is about the fundamentals of swimming. We will be covering:

- Basic mechanics of the 4 strokes (Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Freestyle)

- Develop kick

- Introduction to starts, turns, under-water work, and fast finishes (S.T.U.F.F.)

- Introduction to pace intervals

- Emphasis on fun, games, sportsmanship, positivity

Our goal in this group is for our athletes to be able to swim with the correct form, all while promoting a fun and positive swimming environment.

 

Ages 9-12 (Blue Group): This group is about advancing the skills learned in Green Group. We will achieve this through:

- Drills: Refine technique

- Repetition: Longer workouts in the water

- Introduction of Dryland workouts

- Heavier use of pace intervals

- Emphasis on starts, turns, under-water work, and fast finishes (S.T.U.F.F.)

Our goal in this group is to refine and expand on our swimmers' technique and endurance, while emphasizing the little things that go into a race.

 

Ages 13+ (Red Group): In this group we will continue to expand on training not only with the physical aspects, but the mental aspects as well:

- Longer more intense training

- Heavier implementation and understanding of Dryland workouts

- Thorough understanding of pace intervals

- Racing strategies, mental preparation, visualization

- Conducting oneself in and out of the pool

- Connection between sports and real world

- Team unity and fellowship

The goal in this group is for our athletes to not only grow into great swimmers, but great people, teammates, and role models, while having an understanding of the experiences and lessons that the sport of swimming brings.
