2024 LYC Swim Coaching Staff

  Mike Vansant

  Head Coach

Coach Mike has been coaching swimming for over 25 years.  His swimming career started as a DSA Summer League Swimmer with the Shawnee Sharks in Milford DE.  He then went on to be a year-round swimmer competing for both Lake Forest Swim Club and Lake Forest High School.  Mike then swam at the University of Delaware, helping to contribute to an America East Conference Championship in his freshman year.  Injuries got the better of his college swim career, and he turned his focus to coaching.

While attending UD, Mike took on his first coaching job as the head coach at Sanford School in Hockessin DE.  After graduation he then moved to Lebanon Pennsylvania and served as the Aquatic Director and Head Swim Coach at the Lebanon Family YMCA.  In his time with LEBY he had the privilege of coaching several YMCA National Finalists and PA State Champions.  After a few years in PA, Mike decided it was time to return home to Delaware.

Once back in DE, Mike spent 6 years as the Head Coach at Archmere Academy in Claymont DE.  During his time at Archmere, Mike coached 3 DIAA State Record Holders and over 20 State Champions.  He then moved on to begin his first stint with the SFY Tsunami Swim Team.  Mike spent 5 years as the Lead Senior Group Coach and coached several National Qualifiers, and Cape’s first ever State Champions in the sport of swimming.  Mike then moved on to spend 5 years with the Mako Swim Club, helping to grow the team from 30 in his first year to over 200 in his last season on the Mako staff.

Currently, Coach Mike serves as the Head Coach of the SFY Tsunami and Lewes Yacht Club Swim Teams.  In his short time with those teams, he has seen multiple undefeated seasons, a YMCA Middle Division Championship, YMCA National Qualifiers, and a State Champion.  He is proud of what has been accomplished by the LYC and SFY swimmers so far and thinks the sky is the limit of what these teams can achieve in the future.

Mike currently lives in Milton DE with his wife Becky, and two sons Carter and Garrett.  Carter is a former SFY Swimmer, and Garrett is a current member of the SFY Tsunami Swim Team.

  Camrynn McTeer

  Assistant Coach

Camrynn McTeer enters her third season with LYC, marking her seventh year of coaching swim at the youth and high-school level.  Camrynn's love for swimming began as a brand new swimmer on the SCST Otters Swim Team at the age of 7.  She swam for many years until taking a break, returning to the sport (and SCST) in 2018, serving as an assistant coach for the SCST Otters.  She continued coaching through the SCST/Mako merge before entering the world of high school swimming.

For the past three seasons, McTeer has been the Assistant Swim Coach for Sussex Central High School's swim team.  At SC, McTeer coached many All-State swimmers and a few who podiumed at states.  McTeer comes from a swimming family with her younger sister swimming in high school, who has now gone on to swim at the collegiate level.  Her dedication and compassion for athletes helps them strive for success in and out of the water.

  Jenna Reinhold

  Assistant Coach

Jenna Reinhold is a rising senior at Cape Henlopen High School where she is an AP and Academic Challenge student, and a member of the National Honor Society.  She competes on the high school swim team during the winter, along with the Sussex Family YMCA club team.  In recent years, Jenna has earned all-conference honors for Cape, and was part of the National qualifying medley relay through the YMCA.

She has been a swimmer for LYC since the age of 6, and is a returning coach after her first year on the staff in 2023.  When not at the pool, Jenna can be found watching the Phillies, hostessing at Kindle, reading a good book, or listening to Taylor Swift.

  Jess Mohr

  Assistant Coach

Jess Mohr swam at Mount Holyoke College where she got a Bachelors degree in 2022 and a Master of Arts in Teaching in 2023.  Her main strokes were sprint free and butterfly.

She has coached in smaller roles as a swim lessons instructor and a coach at swim camps, but 2023 was her first full year as a swim coach.  She loves swimming and getting kids excited about swimming.  She genuinely loves coaching and can’t wait to get to see all the kids grow into incredible swimmers at SFY and LYC.

  Matthew Perchiniak

  Assistant Coach

Matthew was born in Columbus, Ohio (Go Bucks!) but moved to Lewes at the age of 3.  He began swimming with LYC at the age of 6 and has been a part of the team ever since.  He is also a year-round swimmer at the Sussex Family YMCA in Rehoboth Beach, and recently completed his fourth season on the varsity swim team at Sussex Academy, where he again served as co-captain.

He holds school records in the 500 free, as well as part of the 400 free relay, and has been a finalist at the Delaware High School State Swim Championships the past three years.  In his spare time, he's probably watching a Philly sports team.  He is very excited about not only continuing to swim for LYC, but more so in joining the coaching staff this season and can't wait to see what the team can accomplish this summer!
