Barracudas 2021 April Update

Hi Barracuda families,

We know there are a lot of questions out there regarding the 2021 season. There are still many decisions riding on staying in Phase 3 and although we will be able to get the swimmers in the water, it will look different this year.  We know so much of summer swim is the family experience. That is one of the things we love about summer swim. However, in order to have a season we have to shift gears and make it the year of the swimmer.  We appreciate your patience and flexibility. So, here's a little of what we know...and what we don't know.

What we know:

 - Swim Camp will be happening. It will be on the weekends in May, starting May 8th. We hope to have information to send out very soon. Due to space limitations, we will have a sign up but rest assured, we will try hard to get everyone in the water who would like to do the camps.

 - Swim Team practices will start June 1st. Afternoons until school is out and then it switches to morning practices.

- Practice Meet June 19th

 - The week of June 21st we will hold our first meet - virtually. This means while in Phase 3, our swimmers can swim at Fairwood and we'll compare their times to our opponent's times from a meet at their pool the same week. Fingers crossed things open up more and we can have some dual meets later in the season.

- Team Suit ordering should be happening by the end of this month.

What we don't know:

 - Parent Meeting - we will schedule this for later in May.

- Spectators - while in Phase 3, it makes it really hard to have all of the wonderful spectators we normally do due to the guidelines and space limitations. We are looking at creative ideas so families can still be involved.

Registration is open:

If you haven’t registered yet, you can register here: Fairwood Golf & Country Club - Barracudas : (teamunify.com)

We are going to try our hardest to make things fun and amazing for the swimmers this summer. We also ask for your grace and patience as we navigate through the guidelines to create a successful summer swim program.

Thank you,

Tracy McDonald & Elaine Theriot
