They should be ready to swim! Please write their name and age on their back in black sharpie and their events on their arm or leg.
(if you need help bring your sharpie to the pool and someone can direct you!)
What to bring?
• Goggles
• Cap (need to buy one or pick up? See Thea and Joy in the club room)
• Suit (never hurts to pack a second)
• 2 towels
• Snacks, water, Gatorade, etc! You can pack a dinner or heavy snack for your swimmer.
• Sweatshirt in case it gets chilly when it gets dark
• Chair if you or your kids want one (we don’t always have enough!)
• Fun things to do. We recommend not sending electronics. Good ideas–uno, friendship bracelets, coloring etc
Your kids are responsible for everything they bring! Put names on everything!!!!!!
Important things to know…
• Parents may not be behind the blocks or in the swimmer area. We will say this all season because we have parents that continually break this rule. Please let the coaches do their jobs!
• Swimmers only in swimmer area. No siblings. No friends. And again, No parents!!! (unless you are volunteering and in that case welcome we love to see it).
• Kids must stay in swimmer area. When your kids leave the area they are not there when it is time for them to swim. Again, you will hear us say this all season because this is an ongoing problem. We will not chase kids around the deck looking for them and they will miss events. Please let your kids know they can use the bathroom!!! If you need to walk to the swimmer area to grab your swimmer or drop off food etc, that is fine! Please access it from the dive well end and get in and out.
• The grill will be open but it will be BUSY. Be patient this is not like a regular day at the pool and the Hulls and staff are always doing their very best!
• Bake sale will accept cash or venmo. Make sure to grab a treat for Swim for Cancer!
• Do not leave with your child until you have checked with McCain. Even if they were not originally in a relay, things can change mid-meet. If you are in a relay at the end and leave this causes major problems for coaches and has the potential to disappoint three other swimmers!
• Heat sheets are available this year by QR code at the meet or you can print one and bring it after it is emailed out tomorrow. Please know changes can happen right before the meet.
• Please encourage your swimmer to pick up all their trash and help clean the area before they leave!
How can we keep the meet running smoothly and quickly?
We are a big team that swims against other big teams and this makes for a long meet! There are some key ways we can all work together to make things go smoothly. One of the biggest time wasters at meets is running around looking for kids. The other is the deck being congested and kids not being able to move to the blocks easily.
• Follow the no parents behind the blocks rule
• Keep siblings and friends away from the swimmer area if they are not on the team
• If your swimmer leaves their area, please encourage them to go back where they are supposed to be.
• Help us by enforcing all the rules with your kids so the coaches and volunteers can spend time keeping the meet moving!
