Athlete Leadership Team Applications Open now–June 18

Hello everyone! 

 

This email is going out to families with swimmers who are in the 11-12, 13-14, and 15&O age groups. The Goodman Waves Swim Team is testing out a new leadership program this summer, called the Athlete Leadership Team. 

 

The Athlete Leadership Team (ALT) is a small group of passionate, driven young athletes who will work closely with their coaches to enhance the overall Goodman Waves Swim Team experience. They will promote positive behaviors and represent their peers at practice, meets, and social events. The ALT is made up of swimmers ages 11-18 who demonstrate strong leadership qualities, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a supportive, inclusive, and motivating environment for all athletes. Members of the Athlete Leadership Team will lead by example, demonstrating good sportsmanship and setting a positive example for younger swimmers. 

The primary role of the ALT is to act as a link between the coaching staff and the swimmers. The ALT will provide feedback, share ideas, and help to shape team culture. Duties of the ALT may include: 

  • Leading team cheers at swim meets

  • Spreading team spirit at social events

  • Providing mentorship to new teammates 

  • Planning and leading ALT practices

  • Creating new team traditions

  • Advocating for the needs of the team

 

Swimmers ages 11-18 who are interested in joining the ALT should submit the attached application (in your email) to Coach Alex ([email protected]) by Wednesday, June 18. Please contact Coach Alex with any questions or concerns.

 

I am looking forward to reading your athletes’ applications! This will be an excellent opportunity for our swimmers to gain some leadership experience and leave their mark on the Waves.
