The Coaches’ Invitational Long Course meet is a special meet that takes place during the season. Swimmers who have made All Star times the first three A meets have their best time for each event ranked against everyone in the county in their age group. The top eight swimmers then race with all of the event lengths doubled in a 50 meter pool, usually the one at Rockville. Therefore, a 25 free becomes a 50, a 100 Individual Medley becomes a 200 IM, and so on. There are no relays at this meet. Swimmers can only swim two events, so it is very possible for someone ranked lower to end up qualified due to other swimmer’s scratches.
