Andrew Cotton Head Coach, 13 and Ups

Hey, Seminole Sharks!

My name is Andrew and I am very excited to be coming back for my fifth year as y’alls Head Coach! I am originally from San Antonio, Texas, and began my swimming career at the age of 6 swimming for my summer league team. It was from there I quickly realized my passion for swimming and began swimming competitively at the age of 10. Throughout my time in San Antonio, I developed into a breaststroke, IM, and distance-free specialist. Afterward, I competed for my High School where I participated at the state level in both swimming and in water polo. Following High School, I moved to Evansville, Indiana where I then competed in Division I athletics for The University of Evansville Purple Aces. I competed at the conference championship meet every year as well as being a captain my senior season.

My coaching career began in the fall of 2016 and I have been involved in the sport ever since. Over the years, I have had the pleasure of coaching athletes of all ages and speeds, including US Open and Junior National qualifiers. Currently, I am taking a break from club coach and am currently in graduate school at UW-Madison to get my Masters in Special Education. I also am a Special Education paraprofessional at Oregon Middle School during the school year. Whenever I am not on a pool deck, I am either spending time with my wife and son, working on my Olympic lifting, or relaxing outside.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone and having another great summer with y’all!

Melissa Ball Dryland Coach

Hi, everyone! My name is Melissa and I will be returning for my second summer as a Seminole coach. I have been a Seminole fan for the past four years as my husband, Coach Andrew, has shared your success stories with me, and I loved getting to be a part of the team last year! I am a former swimmer myself and coached club swimming for several years in Indiana where I grew up. Now I work as a physical therapist at UW Health treating swimmers who are injured and trying to stay in the water! I will be returning to Seminole as the dry land coach for the 11-12s and 13 and Up groups, and will be assisting the lead coaches for both of these groups as well. I am looking forward to another season with the Sharks!

Sam Jekel 13 and Ups

I started swimming as a Shark back in 2005 after sufficient bribery from my mom. I swam through my senior year as a Shark, did some club, and swam in high school for Madison west. I then swam at UWSP for 5 years.

I coached at SEM from 2013 to 2017, coaching each age group except 11-12s and even had a season as Head coach. I've also coached the Madison West Boys team since 2018, which I have just retired from.

Can't wait for an excellent season!

Bella Granetzke 11-12s

Hello! My name is Bella Granetzke, and I am super excited to be coach the 11-12s this summer! This is my second year coaching, and my 14th year with Seminole. In the fall, I will be a sophomore at the University of Delaware where I am swimming and majoring in Kinesiology with Pre-Physical Therapy focus. I am also minoring in disability studies and potentially neuroscience.

I attended and swam at West High School and also swam for BAC. My favorite events are 50, 100, 200 and 500 freestyle. I am almost always swimming or at the pool, but when I am not, I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I also enjoy reading, boating, weight lifting and sleeping. I am looking forward to a fantastic summer!

Emma Neumann 9-10s

Hi everyone! My name is Emma Neumann and I’m so excited to be working with the 9-10’s again this summer! This will be my second summer coaching for Seminole. I swam at Seminole for 11 years and even tested the waters with dive team during my final summer as a swimmer.

I swam for Verona High School all four years and for BAC growing up, along with VAST my senior year. When I'm not at Seminole (which is very rare), I'm coaching at VAST which I've been doing for the past 3 years. You can also find me being a very active member of Swim Club UW, the club swim team at UW-Madison! My favorite events to swim are the 500 free, 100 fly and 200 IM.

I just finished up my sophomore year at UW-Madison where I am studying Community and Nonprofit Leadership with certificates in Health Policy, Athletic Healthcare and Gender and Women's Studies! I can't wait for an awesome summer at the best place on Earth!

Ellie Culver 8 and Unders / Shark Bites
My name is Ellie Culver and I will be one of the 8 & Under and shark bite coaches, along with my side kick, Cleo. This will be my second season coaching, and I can’t wait to get back to it! My favorite part about Seminole is getting to see my little swimmers every morning!

When I’m not at Seminole, you can find me hanging out with friends or trying new restaurants.

I just finished my sophomore year at UW-Madison in the Journalism School and am currently interning at the Athletic Department.

Ben Stitgen Dive Coach

Hello! My name is Ben and I’m super excited to be the new dive coach for Seminole this year. A few things about me; I grew up swimming and diving for Seminole, I currently dive at the collegiate level for UW-Milwaukee, and I love soccer!
