River Run Raptors

Swim & Water Polo

Timers:  Three timers are required to operate stop watches in each lane during a dual meet.  We also must have at least two back up timers.  Each team provides half of the timers to run a dual meet.  Each timer will record the time to the nearest hundredth on a timer sheet which will then be handed to a runner who will take the sheets to the computer table.  There is a timers meeting with the Head Timer held approximately 15 to 20 minutes prior to the start of a meet.  It is essential that you be on time if you are working as a timer as the meet cannot begin until all workers are in place behind the blocks.  It is not a job that would allow you to also supervise a small child.

Marshal/Bullpen:  These workers call the swimmers to the bull pen area where they line them up according to their heat and lane for their event.  They then hand off each heat of swimmers to the escorts or coaches who will take the swimmers to their correct lane.

Runners:  Each team will provide runners for each dual meet.  The runners constantly walk the pool deck collecting timing sheets from the timers and DQ cards from the officials which they deliver to the computer/scoring teamCheck in with the Head Official during the officials meeting usually held approximately 15 to 20 minutes prior to the start of a meet, listen for announcement for place of meeting.

Concessions:  The concession workers will help the concession chair and the board members set up and run the concessions during the meet.  They will work under the direction of the Concession Coordinator providing food and beverages to the participants throughout the meet.  For Saturday meets you must check in with the Volunteer Coordinator no later than 7:00 AM and for Tuesday/Thursday meets check in no later that 4:00 PM to assist in the setup.

Concession Griller:  The concession griller will set up and run the concession grill area during the meet.  They will work under the direction of the Concessions Coordinator preparing and providing food to the participants throughout the meet.  Hats will be required, which the team can provide if you don't have one.  For Saturday meets you must check in with the Volunteer Coordinator no later than 7:00AM and for Tuesday/Thursday meets check in no later than 4:00 PM.

Hospitality/Concession Runner:  This individual will serve two purposes during the meet.  They will prepare snacks and beverage refreshments for the officials, timers, clerks of course, announcer, coaching staff and whoever is working on deck throughout the meet.  This individual will also work under the direction of the Concessions Coordinator and will run out during the meet as needed to area merchants to pick up food that has been ordered for the concessions.  For Saturday meets you must check in with the Concessions Coordinator no later than 7:00 AM and for Tuesday/Thursday meets check in no later than 4:00 PM.

Bag Tags:  Will pass out bag tags to heat winners for all 12 and under events. For Saturday meets you must check in with the Volunteer Coordinator no later than 7:00AM and for Tuesday/Thursday meets check in no later than 4:00 PM.

Set-up/Breakdown Crew: This volunteer sets-up prior to the start of the meet, and cleans-up following the meet. You will be required to arrive at 4:00p.m. for weekday meets, and 7:00a.m. for Saturday meets to begin setting up the pool area. This includes moving tables and chairs, helping to set-up the concessions area, ropes etc. After the meet ends, you will be responsible for putting everything away and cleaning up the pool area. This is a physically demanding job, and is good job for someone who has young children they need to watch during the meet.

Floaters: Floaters will be assigned to fill any vacant positions as needed per meet. You must be flexible and willing to work in whatever position has last minute openings. For Saturday meets you must check in with the Volunteer Coordinator no later than 7:00AM and for Tuesday/Thursday meets check in no later than 4:00 PM.

Official: Officials have their own sign up. Please contact us if you are interested. Officials observe and record swimmer's start, stroke, turn, and touch violations. You will be trained as an official by attending one required "Officials Training Sessions" held pre-swim season. This training counts as a volunteer job. You will learn how to monitor the stroke of the swimmers from the side of the pool. This is a good job to watch the swimmers poolside. This is not a good  job if you have young children you have to watch during the meet as this would not be possible. For Saturday meets you must check in with the Volunteer Coordinator no later than 7:00AM and for Tuesday/Thursday meets check in no later than 4:00 PM.
