Evendale Eagles 2025 Newsletter #6

Caroline Razzano

June 30, 2025

We have 2 meets left in the season, and you won’t want to miss them! Our last home meet is Tuesday vs. Blue Ash. It is senior night, and we will be honoring our 12 seniors! Congratulations to Sarah Koetter, Haley Leach, Elena Pohl, Maggie Razzano, Piper Tilton, Wesley Anglin, Grant Carmody, Vincent Guye, Mitchell Kessler, Declan McGrath, Pete Wilkens, and Nathan Young. They will be honored in the middle of the meet, and then everyone will celebrate after the meet with ice cream sundaes (for those who signed up) and dancing. Everyone is invited to stay and enjoy the dancing even if you did not sign up for ice cream.

Coach Debbie also highly encourages everyone to travel to Norwood for the meet next week. We have a great opportunity to swim at the Norwood pool as our last meet since this is the pool where Championships will be held. The configuration of the pool has changed this year. It is still a 25 yard pool (10% shorter than our 25 meter pool), but the swimming lanes have been shifted and in deeper water than they have been in the past. Your swimmer and therefore the team will benefit from a meet in the pool before the big event. Please take advantage of the opportunity.

Upcoming dates to know:

Tuesday, July 1: Home meet vs. Blue Ash, Senior Night, Ice Cream Social and Dancing

            Arrival: 4:45

            Warmups: 5:00

            Meet Start: 6:00

Friday, July 4: No Practice

Sunday, July 6:  Sign out deadline for Norwood meet, and sign out deadline for Championships

Monday, July 8: Sign up deadline for after champs party. 13 and over practice time moved to 8:30-9:30 for taper.

6&under: All swimmers, including 6 and unders, need to swim in 2 meets to be eligible to swim at Championships. For 6 and unders not eligible to swim at Championships, practice will end on Tuesday July 8.

Championships: For those new to the team, you won’t want to miss Championships. You need to have swum in two meets to be eligible to swim in Championships.  It is assumed you will be there unless you sign out. Please sign out by July 6 if you can’t make it as the coaches spend a lot of time optimizing our races for the good of the team. They are putting together lineups on July 7.

It starts with a Pasta Party / Pep Rally on Sunday, July 13 and then Championships is during the day on July 14-15 (Monday and Tuesday) at the Norwood Pool.  Times will be finalized when the meet packet comes out later this week, but I want to give new families an idea of the timeline:

Monday morning is preliminaries for 6&under, 7-8, and 9-10 age groups. Arrival time will be a couple hours before the meet start time of 9:00 AM. Races for 6 and under events are timed finals, which means that they only swim on Monday.  The 8 & under free relays are also swum on Monday as timed finals. The top 12 swimmers for each race for 7 and up age groups will swim again on Tuesday, along with all relays except the 8 & under free relay.

Monday afternoon is preliminaries for 11 and up. More information will come on warmups.

Tuesday is finals for the top 12 + 2 alternates for each race from Monday (for 8 and up events) and relays. The meet will start around 1:30 with an arrival time around 2 hours prior. After the meet, we celebrate with a party back at the Evendale pool.

Private Lessons: Sign up for private lessons with the coaches to work on those skills! Signup sheet is linked on the website.  Lessons are $15 for a 30 minute lesson. Lessons for 6 and under swimmers are 15 minutes long, so you’ll get 2 lessons for your $15. Pay at the Rec Center desk, and bring your receipt to the coach giving the lesson.

Senior Night and Ice Cream Social:

Seniors will be honored halfway through the meet on July 1. After the meet we will have an ice cream social with make your own sundaes following by dancing. Ice cream is $5 per person and signups were due June 24 (price doubles on June 25). Everyone is welcome to stay for the party even if you did not pay for ice cream.

Pasta Dinner:

Signups and payment of $8/person were due on Sunday, June 29, and the price is now doubled for late signups. Everyone swimming at championships (and that should be everyone) should sign up as valuable information is shared. Bring the whole family and join the fun! Last Name A-N bring salad or fruit; Last Name O-Z bring a dessert for at least 12. Come get fired up for champs!

Volunteer Requirements:  THANK YOU to everyone that has signed up! Your child will not be allowed to swim in meets until you have signed up to volunteer. Remember that each family is required to volunteer for 2-3 meets and 1 activity, unless your OLDEST child is a 6 and under; then the requirement is 1 meet job and 1 activity. Championship jobs will also need to be filled at a later date.

Meet Sign-Outs:  The coaches will assume your swimmers will be swimming in a meet unless you say otherwise. The coaches do meet line ups up to two days prior to a meet so if you do not change the committed status on the website and your swimmers do not show up; it can cause problems, especially when it comes to relays. Of course, some situations cannot be avoided or planned. If this happens and you are within that 2-day window prior to a meet, please text Coach Debbie at 513-379-0683 as soon as possible and she will remove your children from the meet. Here are the steps to signing your swimmers out of a meet:

  • On Evendale Eagles’ website, click “Eagles Events”, and find the meet in which you wish to sign out.
  • Click on “Attend/Decline”
  • Under “Member Name” find and click on your swimmer’s name
  • There is a drop box under “Declaration”, select “no”
  • Click on “save changes”
  • Repeat for each swimmer if you have more than one

Meet Schedule: Generally speaking, all meets begin at either 6:00, 6:15, or 6:30, depending on the size of teams. Warmups start 30 minutes to an hour before the meet. There could be a slight change in start times / warmup times which will be communicated in each Monday morning newsletter for the meets that week.
