Welcome to the LRR Little Stingers 2025 Season!
Little Stingers Goals:
The Little Stinger program is for our youngest swimmers who have had limited time in the water. The purpose is to create a “water safe” environment that teaches our youngest swimmers the first basics of learning how to swim.
- Safety in the water and on the pool deck is top priority
- Team Suits are not required for Little Stingers
Membership Requirements:
The Little Stingers is a neighborhood program. For your child to be eligible to participate, your family must live in the Little Rocky Run neighborhood. In addition:
- Each swimmer must possess a valid pool pass.
- The eligibility to join is determined by his/her age on June 1 of the current year.
LIttle Stingers minimum age is 4.
Evaluations
- Little Stingers evaluations take place in late May or early June to determine the skill level of participants.
- We provide a Sign-Up Genius link to sign up for a timeslot:
- After evaluation the coach will divide participants into practice groups by skill level.
Age Range
- To join Little Stingers, participants need to be at least age 4 on or before June 1.
- Typically participants are 8 or under, although the program does not have a specific upper age limit. Swimmers are eligible to join the Stingrays ("big team") once they can demonstrate the ability to swim the length of the pool without assistance from a coach, a lane line, or the bottom of the pool.
- The Stingrays team assessments are held at the beginning of each season. Swimmers do not change or move up from Little Stingers to Stingrays in the middle of a summer season.
Practice Times
- Practices start after school is out for the summer. This may change depending on completing all evaluations.
- Practices are held Monday through Friday.
- Each practice session is 30 minutes. The first one is at 9:00 AM and the last one starts at 11:30 AM.
- Each participant's exact practice time will be communicated to parents once all the participants have been evaluated and placed in their appropriate group by skill level.
Volunteer Jobs
- The summer swim program depends on parent volunteers to run meets, pep rallys, and social events.
- Families with only Little Stingers participants are required to sign up for 2 volunteer jobs, and do not need to be associated with Stingrays swim meets. Little Stingers families can sign up for social events to fulfill both volunteer job requirements.
- Families with Stingrays ("big team") particpants are required to sign up for a minimum of 7 volunteer jobs.
