After the 4 days being out of the water, because of heater problems at the pool, Poly Prep swimmers still tried their best at the meet against Trinity. With much larger numbers of swimmers on the Trinity side points were just flying towards their team even when Poly Prep swimmers were finishing 1st, 2nd or 3rd. Notably our swimmers showed great team spirit by supporting each other. Final score for the Boys was 100-36 and for the Girls 100-72. Poly Prep swimmers will be competing against Horace Maan this Friday.
Poly Swimmers shared a ride to and from Hackley with the Poly wrestling team today. Unfortunately, despite the support they received from the wrestling team both the boys and girls squads were defeated. The Boys team was short, losing two swimmers who are still going through the recovery process and unable to participate. To kick off 2022, Poly Prep swimmers competed against two teams at the same time. This time all swimmers on the girls side were able to make it to the meet and only one swimmer on the boys side was absent due to injury. The Poly Prep boys swimmers opened the dual meet season with an impressive performance winning almost every race but with an undermanned boys squad and being grossly outnumbered, the best they could manage was an 83-69 loss (Riverdale - 83 Poly 69).The Poly girls squad shined in every race taking 1st and 2nd place in almost every race and while also be short some swimmers still managed to win their meet by the score of 79-65.
The Poly Prep Swim team finished the season at Lehman College with some great swims. The girls squad lost a hard-fought meet to Trinity. Despite the loss, the girls were able to secure an impressive 2nd place finish in the overall team rankings. The boys fought tenaciously but were unable to overcome some very talented squads and found themselves at the bottom of the standings. Poly Prep swimmers closed out their regular season yesterday with a Home dual meet against Dalton. The meet began with Poly prep team recognizing their graduating Seniors. For the first time, this season, the girl’s and boy’s squads both came out on top. January 24th Poly Prep swimmers were competing against the strongest team in the league Trinity. The team came up short on both sides but swept a few individual events. Boys lost 93-59 and Girls 99-73. Great day of racing for Trinity team. The next meet for our Poly swimmers will be against Dalton February 3rd.
Poly Prep swimmers continued the season with another win on the girl's side and another hard-fought loss on the boy's side. The girls kept up their fast swimming by taking first place in most events while still getting back to form after the long holiday break. The girls prevailed by a tally of 106-63 over Fieldstone. The boys battled hard and had some fast swims but fell 94-58 to a very talented Fieldstone squad. The next meet for our Poly swimmers will be against Trinity on January 24th.
The Poly Pep boys kicked off 2020 on the short end of a 54-91 defeat while the girls prevailed by 87-72 against Horace Mann. Swimmers gave it their best effort but the effects of a long holiday break showed in their inability to perform at their highest level. Swimmers and Coaches were both excited to compete and to continue their hard training in preparation for the championship season in the coming weeks.
