Dear Swim Team Families,
What a fun (and fast) Time Trials on Saturday! It was great to see all of you and the smiles on our swimmers’ faces. Summer is around the corner, keep reading for exciting updates.
Save the date for MVP Swim Team’s Parent Party - Chill Out! - on Sunday June 9, 5:00-8:00pm. Enjoy a casual evening at MVP with new and longtime friends! Indulge in a catered bbq dinner (including vegan options), lawn games, and the soon to be famous “White Marlin” gift exchange. Tickets are $55 per person. A Paperless Post invite is forthcoming. A special thank you to Maggie Terry and Catherine Doyle for planning this special evening. This is an adults only event.
Is your 11 & Up swimmer interested in being a Big Buddy to a young Marlin? MVP Swim Team Big Buddies is a program to foster a supportive swim team environment for our youngest Marlins. We can launch this ONLY if we have enough interest in the 11 & Up age group. If your swimmer is interested in becoming a Big Buddy read about it here and add their name to the list by Sunday May 26.
Family folders - your swimmers may have noticed four file boxes on a table near the pump house. This becomes a very popular spot for swimmers once swim meets begin. These boxes contain what we refer to as “family folders”. Each family has a folder. All folders are arranged by last name. This is where your swimmers can find ribbons after swim meets and other items that we need to get to you. We would appreciate it if you talked to your swimmers about these folders. It is only okay for them to access their own folder, and they should not be going through other families’ folders. We appreciate your help with this messaging.
Swim caps - if you ordered caps, they are now in the family folders. We have a few un-personalized caps remaining for sale. If interested, please email Emily at [email protected].
Only two more weeks of “In School” season practices - Out of School season begins Monday June 3. Practice times are listed below and are posted on www.mvpswimteam.com. If your child is registered as a Mini Marlin, practice starts on Monday June 3.
It’s now time to commit/decline to summer swim meets - all meets are posted on www.mvpswimteam.com. Commitment deadlines for each meet can be found on the 2024 Swim Team Calendar. MVP’s first meet is a Split Meet (A/B) for 11 & Ups on Wednesday June 5 at Moraga Ranch. The deadline to commit/decline is Sunday June 2. As a reminder, there are no late adds if you miss a commitment deadline.

Commit/Decline to Swim Meets
Did you know that all of the season’s swim meets are already in the Events section of www.mvpswimteam.com? If you know your summer schedule, you can edit your swimmer’s declaration for each meet of the season.
To sign a swimmer in or out of a meet on www.mvpswimteam.com: On the homepage scroll down to Events and click on More Events. All meets will appear in a list. Click on the Edit Commitment button for a swim meet, select your swimmer, and change the declaration to “declined” or “committed”.
If you are new to swim team, guidance on how to do this is in the Swim Team Handbook on page 14. Generally you need to commit/decline to a swim meet at least 5 days in advance and 2 weeks in advance for invitationals. Deadlines are on the 2024 Swim Team Calendar. Get in the habit of editing commitments well in advance. If you do not edit your swimmer’s commitment by the deadline then they will not be entered into the meet.
