WEEK OF JUNE 3, 2024
Dear Swim Team Families,
What a FUN parent party at MVP last night. Appetizers on the tennis deck, bbq dinner by the pool, amplified music(!), and the star of the evening - the White Marlin gift exchange. Towels, a shade structure, a cooler, wooden carved Marlins from Costa Rica, pool floaties - parents went all in on this new MVP tradition. There were so many laughs! We cannot wait for the next one. Thank you again to Maggie Terry and Catherine Doyle for organizing a fun evening out for MVP parents.
UPCOMING SWIM MEETS ~ 2 REGISTRATION DEADLINES THIS WEEK
Our first home meet is this Wednesday at MVP against Campo Cabana Club (CCC). The meet starts at 5:30pm. The Forge Fire Truck will be onsite serving dinner for purchase. More details to come.
Our next meet is a tri-meet at MVP on Saturday against Diablo Country Club and Las Trampas. The deadline to register is this Wednesday. The meet starts at 9:00am. The Fourth Bore will be onsite selling breakfast burritos, coffee, and other treats. More details to come.
Bottoms Up Heads Up - the deadline to register is TOMORROW. Registration deadlines for Invitationals and OMPA are earlier than regular meets. Please check the 2024 Swim Team Calendar on www.mvpswimteam.com for deadlines and plan accordingly.
PARKING AT HOME MEETS ~ IMPORTANT
Please be courteous to our neighbors on Risa Court. They have asked that we do not park on Risa Court during home meets. It is a narrow street. Please park in the MVP lot or on Ivy Drive. Also, refrain from parking anywhere illegally, and be mindful not to block driveways or mailboxes.
In general, if you have a large vehicle, we ask that you park in the lower section of MVP’s lot where there is more space. We need to ensure that emergency vehicles have quick access to the club if needed. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation.
SWIM TEAM PICTURE DAY ~ THIS THURSDAY
Swim Team Picture Day is this Thursday at MVP (all practices are canceled). It is not too late to sign up. Don’t miss out on capturing swim team memories. There will be no makeup picture day.
DINE AT NATIONS FUNDRAISER ~ TUESDAY JUNE 18
Don’t worry about cooking breakfast/lunch/dinner on Tuesday June 18. Dine with fellow swimmers and swim team families at Nation’s Orinda from 6:00am-11:00PM. 20% of sales will be donated when you mention “Moraga Valley Pool Swim Team” BEFORE you order. Make it fun - invite our age group swimmers/families to dine together. This only applies to the Orinda location and you must mention “Moraga Valley Pool Swim Team'' to receive fundraising credit. Or go to nationsrestaurants.com, click on “More” and then “Fundraiser” section and select quantity “1”.
SWIM TEAM LESSONS
Mark your calendars - Swim team lesson sign ups open on Tuesday June 11 at 8pm for lessons the week of June 17.
Coaches offer optional 20-minute private lessons for swim team members and Mini Marlins. The coach and the swimmer focus on technique, or comfort/confidence for the younger swimmers. Read more about it on www.mvpswimteam.com.

BIG BUDDIES PROGRAM
Big Buddies, please introduce yourselves to your Little Buddies at Wednesday’s meet. Ask a coach to point them out if you don’t know what they look like. You can also put an introductory note in their family folder. Thank you.
MVP’s LAP-A-THON FUNDRAISER ~ TUESDAY JUNE 24
MVP Swim Team’s annual Lap-a-Thon will take place on June 24 during your swimmer's regular practice time. There will be prizes for the swimmer with the most money raised, and prizes for most laps in each age group. Every swimmer will get a post lap-a-thon treat. Please be on the lookout soon for your swimmer's own fundraising site from 99Pledges and more information on this fun day.
