WEEK OF JULY 15, 2024
Dear Swim Team Families,
It is hard to believe that we only have 3 more weeks until OMPA. Summer is whizzing by, but we still have fun meets and activities to look forward to. Be on the lookout for an “All About Spirit Week and OMPA” email coming your way soon. Spirit Week takes place the week of July 29, leading up to OMPA. Our Spirit Week team is putting together a fabulous week of activities at MVP leading up to OMPA. Glow for the Gold, Marlins!
Are you ready for another exciting week ahead? Our final home swim meet of the season against Moraga Country Club (B) is on Wednesday, Marlin Ball takes place on Thursday, MVP has an away meet against Sleepy Hollow (A) on Saturday, and the Sleepy Hollow B Invitational meet is at Sleepy Hollow on Sunday.
Parents - we look forward to hanging with you at the Marlin Ball Parent Potluck and Silent Auction this Thursday. Bring a main or side dish and drinks to share and we can spy on our kids together, plus bid on fun silent auction items. Your Thursday is planned!
UPCOMING SWIM MEETS & EVENTS ~ 3 REGISTRATION DEADLINES THIS WEEK
Mini Marlin Celebration at MVP on Friday July 26. The deadline to register is TOMORROW Tuesday July 16. This end of year party is for Mini Marlins only. Minis will swim their first “race” assisted by the junior coaches. Parents, get ready for the photo opportunity at the end! Your Mini will not want to miss this culmination of their Mini Marlin experience. More information to come.
MVP @ Sleepy Hollow on Saturday July 20. The deadline to register is Wednesday July 17.
Last Chance at Ranch! MVP @ Moraga Ranch Swim Club. Our final regular meet of the season on Wednesday July 24. Pop those times before OMPA! The deadline to register is Sunday July 21.
SWIM TEAM LESSONS ~ GO LIVE ON TUESDAY JULY 16
Swim team lessons for the week of July 22 will go live at 8:00pm on Tuesday July 16. Sign ups are on www.mvpswimteam.com.

MVP SWIM TEAM’S MARLIN BALL ~ THURSDAY JULY 18, 5:30-8:00PM
Marlin Ball date groups were emailed on Sunday July 14. If your swimmer was omitted, please email us by the end of day TODAY. Parents, please reach out asap to coordinate meals and outfits with your swimmer’s date group. Marlin Ball is this Thursday!
Marlin Ball is a cherished tradition that celebrates relationship building and bonding across the age groups that your swimmer will not want to miss! Each participating swimmer will be assigned to a date group composed of older and younger swimmers by the coaches. Each group will enjoy a meal together on the lawn. Boys are responsible for bringing dinner and a picnic blanket. Girls bring drinks, dessert, plates, napkins, and utensils. After dinner, date groups enjoy the party together. There will be music and dancing, a photo booth, crafts, games, and a best dressed contest. Attire is formal and this year’s theme is masquerade.
While swimmers enjoy the party, parents stay for a parent potluck! Please bring a dish and/or drink to share and enjoy hanging out with the best swim team parent community in Lamorinda. Feel free to dress in masquerade attire, or come as you are. After dinner, there will be a silent auction with proceeds to benefit MVP. In the past, members have generously donated items ranging from art to use of vacation property to hosted gourmet dining experiences, such as a sushi making night. If you have a fun idea for an event or you have any item or experience to offer, we’d love to hear from you. You can either donate as a family or a group of members - any submissions, small or large, are appreciated. Please email a one page item description to Jane Bordalo by Monday, July 15.

REMINDER ABOUT PARKING
The MVP Board received a complaint from a neighbor on Ivy Drive that cars were blocking mailboxes during a home meet, preventing mail from being delivered. Please be a good neighbor - do not block mailboxes, driveways, walkways, etc. when parking for meets. This rule applies to any neighborhood that you park in for swim meets, either home or away. Thank you for your cooperation.
