October 17 update: Recap and looking forward

Joseph Shelly

Hi all,

Hope you had a great weekend! There were so many great swims at our meet and lots of good learning experiences for our newer swimmers:) Thank you to all of you who volunteered and supported our teams, events like these are not possible without you!

I'm sorry I couldn't be away from the computer system and directly coaching, we had a deck entry from Whatcom Y that re-seeded several events and I needed to make sure all swimmers got their times recorded correctly. Big thank you to Coach Jenn and Coach Kelsey for stepping up and leading our swimmers to their lanes and success!

We had 49 personal bests swam on October 15th! (This is only accounting for non-disqualified individual swims and includes several new swims). The biggest time drop that day goes to Henry Windler who had a 31.30 second drop in the 200 IM! The next biggest drop was a 10.90 second drop in the 50 breast by Caroline Johnston! Way to go everyone:)

I am also keeping track of personal bests made throughout the year for each swimmer, and so far we have Shelby Bahe in the lead with 6 personal bests across our 2 meets!

Here is a list of important dates and upcoming events for our team:

  • The deadline to sign up for the BBST meet up in Bellingham is October 28th! Please declare intent to swim even if you are not going.
  • Our meet with IST down at King County Aquatics Center in Federal Way is on the 29th and 30th!
  • The Trunk-or-Treat event will be on October 31st (Monday), swimmers are welcome to bring costumes! Practice is at 5:00 to 6:00 for all groups, and the trunk-or-treat event will be from 6:00-6:30. Please bring participating vehicles before 5:50!

Dryland practice starts today for Tidal Wave swimmers!!! For now, we will have dryland 30 minutes before practice on Monday and Wednesday (starts 4:30) upstairs in the studio next to the weight lifting equipment. We will be meeting near the front desk for the first few days to help guide swimmers to the right place. This is not required, but highly encouraged.

Best wishes,
Joseph Shelly
