October Update 10/26/22: Meet, Trunk-or-Treat, Halloween practice

Joseph Shelly

Good afternoon,

Hope everyone's week has been going well so far! Just wanted to give a brief update with some more information about our upcoming events.

  • I will be sending out another email with a timeline (and heat sheet) for everyone going to the Federal Way meet! If there is anyone not swimming that would like to go to that Halloween event in the previous news update, just let me know.
  • I will be sending out another news update with information regarding the Trunk-or-Treat by tomorrow! In short, we plan on having participating vehicles behind the Y, so swimmers can exit through the doors next to the pool and safely grab candy and hang out (costumes are optional!) There will be signs up to direct traffic, as well as help parents get vehicles to the right spot before the Trunk-or-Treat event at 6:00. All swimmers will be in the water at 5:00-6:00 leading up to the event.

Looking further ahead, I got a couple of questions about Y-State and how to qualify for it. I talked with other YMCA head coaches and officials and they say swimmers must have 2 YMCA/PSSA sanctioned meets in order to attend Y-State in January. We do have 2 more YMCA meets that we plan on attending and I will be sharing our updated meet schedule soon:)

If you had missed our home meet with Whatcom, try to make both of the following meets: December 4th - home meet with Whatcom, and January 15th - Snohomish Distance meet in Everett

Y-State is a championship meet where all YMCAs in our state come together for a big swim meet! It's a lot of fun and I highly encourage attending. Right now, it is slated to be a one day event (this was always the case historically), but there is a small chance they make it a two-day thing. I will let everyone know when that is decided and I get more information.

See you all soon!
Joseph Shelly
