Y State Recap and Highlights
Good morning SVY,
Great swims on Saturday! We had a great showing as a team and I wanted to share some of the stats with you all.
First up, we have a new YMCA Regional Championship qualifier, Landon Taylor! He qualified in both the 50 Free (2.63 time drop) and the 100 back (0.97 time drop). Congratulations, and hope to see you at Boise!
In addition to those 2 new qualifying swims, we have swimmers who have already qualified for Regionals add some more events to their resume:
- Shelby Bahe qualified in the 200 IM with a 7.27 second time drop
- Noah Dobbs qualified in the 50 Breastroke with a 0.29 second time drop
- Heather Santangelo qualified in the 200 Breast with a 5.32 second time drop
Our biggest time drop this time around goes to Logan Hobson with a 14.61 second improvement in the 50 free. Huge drop, nicely done!
All together, our team of 15 swimmers had 23 personal best swims! This is a fantastic number, especially since we have had a meet every weekend this month and these are all swims that had all been recently swum.
Our team took 7th place out of the 12 in terms of overall points, which is not bad considering all teams that placed above us had more swimmers. Snohomish Y won the State Championships by almost 200 points over South Sound YMCA, so big congratulations to our neighbors to the south!
We had 21 swims that placed in the top 3, and 5 of those were first place finishes!
I'm happy to see the success of our swimmers! It's always great to watch hard work during practice and positive spirit when listening to coach feedback and technique work. We have an awesome group of swimmers and families this year, so big thank you to all the parents for helping foster this success.

Our next meet is the home meet on Sunday, February 12th. Please be sure to sign in and mark whether or not you can go, and if you can, we need help with volunteers!! Whatcom will not be able to help host, so I will be the meet director this time.
Please look over this sign up sheet and help us run this meet: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0948A5A922A1FCC61-february
Thank you in advance!
See you all soon,
Joseph Shelly
