June 12 Update: Meet results, food on deck, website updates and more!
Good morning SVYA Tritons,
We just had another successful home meet this past weekend (BIG thank you to all the volunteers that helped out and made this opportunity possible), and I have several bits of information to share with everyone!
Out of our 25 swimmers, we had 46 personal best swims on Sunday; our biggest time drop goes to Ezra Dryden who improved almost 12 seconds in the 50 fly!
Meet results were sent out to those that attended, and I have uploaded the meet result PDF to the event page on the website. You can access it by going to our past/achieved events and clicking on the June 11th meet page there. I can also send the meet file to you if asked via email!

Trash and Food at Home Meet
Unfortunately, with a lot of success came a lot of trash left on our side of the pool deck. Coach Jenn had found and cleaned up A LOT of food/plastic that was not thrown away, and there were plenty of crumbs smeared next to the bleachers where our swimmers were sitting. We understand the importance of having food/snack available during meets to keep swimmers fueled up and ready for competition, but if we have another meet where we leave the area trashed, we will have to ban food on deck.

Relay Policy
Going forward with meets (especially home meets), we will also be drafting relays on the day of the meet since no-shows often drastically change our relays. This means our relays will be marked as "A/B/C" with no names under them on psych/heat sheets. For YMCA and home meets there is no extra charge to adding in relays, but with USA Swimming meets there is a fee associated to each entry. Please let coaching staff know if a swimmer is NOT available for relays when you register for a meet, otherwise we will put teams together based on attendance.

Website Updates
I have provided the following updates to our website:
1. Team records updated! The following records have been added:
- Ryley Pearson (2009) record 200 fly 1:59.90 broken by Artemiy Lisitskiy with a 1:59.62
- Robert Simmons (1993) record for 200 Free of 2:22.81 broken by Dima Lisitskiy with a 2:17.88
Congratulations to Artemiy and Dima! These are some old records, and I remember being a young swimmer when Ryley had broken that 200 fly way back then.
2. Added a tab explaining the changes to private / one-on-one coaching. Rates and everything is the same, except they are no longer grouped in with our private lesson program and will be scheduled by coaching staff from this point onwards.
3. Updated our practice schedule graphic to include the Riptide B practice times.

Summer Parent's meeting
I am planning on scheduling a parent's meeting soon! Topics to talk about are: Summer picnic at Lake Samish/Padden, fundraising for scoreboard, and a Swim Up the Skagit event in the Fall/Winter.

Upcoming independent Practices / August break
As some of you know, we usually take 2-3 weeks off before the Fall season starts back up during August. During this time, our pool is closed for its annual cleaning which provides a good time to give our swimmers, families, and staff a break to reset and come back refreshed. We do not charge the monthly training fee during the month of August, and all are still welcome to attend practice! This break will start on August 21st, and we will be back in early September (date to be decided soon, most likely the 4th of September depending on pool scheduling).
We will be having multiple days of combined practices, and a potential day or two of time trials in August. There are several records on the board (especially relays) that I think our swimmers can break and add their name to!
On Friday June 23 there will not be any coaching staff on deck as we will be attending the meet in Wenatchee. I will have workouts written on the desk at the bleachers, as well as on the whiteboard for any swimmer not attending the competition but wanting to swim that day.

Best,
Joseph Shelly
