June 2023 Parent Meeting recap and link to slides

Joseph Shelly

Good evening all,

Just wanted to briefly go through what was discussed during our parent meeting today!

  • Friday June 23 is an independent practice - coaches will be away at the Wenatchee meet.
  • Friday July 7th may also be an independent practice for the Tsunami group - I will double check and let you know ASAP
  •  Friday July 28th will be a combined practice!
  • Aug 7-9 will be a combined practice, with Tsunami swimmers leading/writing a workout and some peer mentoring
  • Aug 10th will be an SVYA time trial event!
  • Aug 14-18 will be optional/independent practice - I will have laminated workouts for all who wish to swim those days
  • Aug 19-25 the pool is closed for cleaning, and we will be on break during that time and return Tuesday, Sep. 5!

For the Fall/Winter season our practice times will most likely remain the same. All practice schedule times are on the website, so if you are moving up to a different group it should be up to date!

Thank you all for helping and your thoughts on the business/fundraising side of things! I will be working to draft some ideas about an official parent board that could help really improve our program and bring more fun and quality of life upgrades - I still want to be very involved with whatever I can help with but I realize I need help to organize and set up some of these things (for example, Swim Up the Skagit).

I will be creating a poll for the Lake picnic that happens early August or late July. This is a fun tradition that our team has always done back when I was swimming (along with the Halloween Trunk or Treat, Winter Break party, and team banquet).

More details and the full meeting agenda can be found here in the slide I used during the meeting: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1X7b5wcoZPy4mBcMr_nKWgznX2AMBfJgLTABNz2KEsnA/edit?usp=sharing

I will be uploading the recording soon if you prefer to listen that way! Everything that was talked about should be on the slides for the most part though, if audio is a little wonky.

Please let me know if you have any questions, and as always thank you for your support!

Best,
Joseph Shelly
