Nov 16th Update: Winter events and schedule up to Regionals, Important info on meets, and more
Good afternoon Tritons!
I have a lot of information to share with you all today, including an update to Y State and an outline of our first few months after the new year:
Upcoming events:
-
November 17th is our in-person officials training! The deadline to register is tonight, so please consider registering here to help the team out: https://lcdc.yexchange.org/s/c54n85q
-
To register for the in-person class with Jim, please create a new account on that LCDC website (it isn't connected to our swim team or Skagit Y website). If you click on that link, it should direct you to a log-in page or new account registration. Once you create a new account, please click the above link again and it should bring you to the class page. From there, if you scroll down you should see the register button!
Please let me know if you have any questions or issues with the registration process. We are in need of swim officials to continue to host swim meets and are still borrowing from Snohomish+Whatcom who have been very supportive thus far. Thank you to those who have become officials and thank you in advance to our future officials for helping provide these opportunities for all our swimmers!

November 21st is the deadline to register for our home meet on December 3rd. Please reach out to me if you have any questions or need help registering for the competition. Doors open at 7:15am, and competition begins at 8:30am.
-
Please help us with the organization of the meet by signing up to volunteer here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0948A5A922A1FCC61-46231394-2023
-
Meet announcement is up on the event page on our website for more information (including meeting times, events)
-
-
There will not be practice on November 23-24 for Thanksgiving break! Normal practice times will resume Monday, Nov. 20th
-
Our Winter Break Party will be on December 13th! All practice groups are in the water from 5-6pm and will move to the community room for a sock exchange at 6pm-6:30pm. Please bring a sock filled with goodies to participate! (An idea could be stuffing a sock with something easy like candy or a small toy, and/or bringing a unique looking pair of socks to stuff for the exchange).
-
Winter Break for the swim team will be from December 22nd to Jan 1st. Normal Practice times will resume on Jan 2nd!
-
The 2024 Polar Plunge will be on Jan 1st at Lake Samish. Like last year, if you are participating I recommend bringing something to keep warm after the dip. Plan to meet up at 11:30am and jump in right at 12:00pm noon!
-
There will be a Stanwood Y meet on Jan 13th and a BBST meet on Jan 20-21. The event pages are up on the website, and more information will be posted as soon as it is available.
-
The Washington State YMCA Championship Meet will be on Saturday, January 27th.
-
There was a vote by the PSSA to have the attendance requirement be 3 YMCA meets to be able to qualify and attend Y State. The PSSA also decided to allow Spring/Summer meets to count towards the attendance requirement, and those who joined after or were unable to make 3 meets (medical reasons, high school swim, family obligations, etc.) may be eligible to apply to waive the meet requirements.
-
There is still a 90 day membership requirement for Y Championship meets (participating swimmers must be a member of their YMCA and swim team for 90 consecutive days prior the first day of the championship competition). Oct. 29th is the latest a swimmer could have joined to attend Y State.
-
-
There will be one final meet (home meet), if we are able to host it, before Y Regionals. Planned for February 11th.
-
Y Regionals is on March 1st-3rd at Boise, Idaho. Information will be up on the event page on our website once I receive the meet announcement.
We have a couple other meets planned, including an alternative meet (prelims/finals) for those who haven't qualified for Y Regionals. More information on that will be shared when we get closer and finalize everything!
As always, thank you for your support and hope you all have a great day!
