Jan 24 Update: Meet results and momentum going into Y State!

Hi SVY Tritons,

We are coming up on our Y State Championship meet, and I hope everyone is doing as well as can be!

First off, I wanted to share some of the results from our past couple meets. At the Stanwood meet named "New Year New You" we had 24 personal best swims and 14 swimmers in attendance. Our biggest time improvements came from Finn Clark who had dropped about 44 seconds combined (24 in the 100 IM and 20 in the 100 free), way to go!!

With the Aly Fell meet last weekend, we had 27 swimmers in attendance and saw 75 personal best swims. The biggest drops came from Victoria Jomantara who dropped 31 seconds in the 100 breast and Rachael Shipman with a 32 second improvement in the 50 breast; huge improvements from the two, and a great showing by our Riptide B swimmers as a whole!

At the Aly Fell meet there was an added competition to see who could swim the lowest total time when adding up the 50 events and the 100IM and 100 Free (for the 8&U it was 25 Breast, 25 Back, 25 Fly, and 50 Free). To be eligible, you had to swim all of those events without getting disqualified, across the two days of the competition. We had several swimmers in the running, and secured the following places:

Boys 8&U
Weston Weishaar - 1st

Girls 9-10
Ella Inman - 3rd
Caroline Veltri - 5th

Boys 11-12
Dima Lisitskiy - 2nd
Michael Veltri - 6th

Girls 13-14
Shelby Bahe - 1st

Boys 13-14
Alex Lisitsky - 2nd

Boys 15&O
Artemiy Lisitsky - 2nd

 

Congratulations to the swimmers that placed, and to Shelby and Weston for taking home their respective trophies! (If you have not received the trophy yet, I will be passing them out at today's practice).

 

 

With so many great swims happening this month, I knew we were bound to get some more Regionals qualifications. Here are the swimmers that have already qualified but punched in a few more qualifying times:

  • Logan Hobson - 50 breast
  • William McCann - 50 fly
  • Weston Weishaar - 25 Free, 25 back, 25 breast
  • Dima Lisitskiy - 50 back, 50 breast, 100 IM
  • Alex Lisitskiy - 50 fly, 50 breast
  • Artemiy Lisitskiy - 50 back, 50 breast
  • Ella Inman - 100 Free 
  • Gideon Carpenter-Eells - 100 breast

Congratulations to the following NEW Y Regionals qualifiers!

  • Ole Lervick 50 Free
  • Noah Dobbs 100 breast

 

If you have 4 or less events, you may be able to add up to 3 bonus events to compete in at Boise! I am happy to explain the bonus event process if you have any questions.

 

It's been an absolute pleasure watching the team grow and improve so much. Many of the swimmers on our team have been on for less than 2 years, and the personal growth of both the veterens and the newcomers has been incredible to watch. I am looking forward to see our team compete at KCAC on Saturday, and hope that the event is both fun and a moment to shine for our young Tritons.

(Side note: the shipment of Y State apparel from Chicken Foot TShirt Co. was delayed by the snow, but the delivery should arrive on Thursday for me to pick up. I am expecting to receive the heat sheet for Y State shortly as well).
