April 7th Update: Return to practice and Y Nationals

Joseph Shelly

Good morning Tritons!

I write this as we wrap up our trip to Y Nationals in Greensboro, North Carlolina. It's been a great week of swimming, and watching some of the fastest youth in the state compete! I first want to congratulate Artemiy Lisitskiy for being one of 7 swimmers to represent Washington State, and the Skagit Valley Family YMCA.

Artemiy made some great time cuts in the time trials:

  • dropped 8.28 in the 200 Free with a time of 1:49.44
  • dropped 0.51 in the 50 Free with a time of 23.08
  • dropped 0.40 in the 100 Free with a time of 49.97

He also swam against the best in his qualified events of 100 Fly and 200 Fly!

  • The first day of the competition he swam a 52.90 100 Fly, placing 141st
  • The final day of the competition he was able to overcome a rough first day and swam a 1:55.18 in the 200 Fly, placing him in the top 50 in the nation's YMCAs at 43rd!

Our team is still relatively young, but we coaches know and see the potential in the team to grow and eventually see more representation at the National level! I am very excited to start the next season tomorrow (practices resume at our normal schedule), and have many ideas and new swim team routines/programming planned :)

I will be sharing these within the next week or so. Stay tuned and see you all tomorrow
