March 1st - New Y State Date

Joseph Shelly

Good morning team,

Thank you all for your feedback, I read each message even if I wasn't responding and brought our collective thoughts and comments to the planning committee yesterday. It seems like they were able to secure a date that wasn't on memorial day weekend which is great for many! The unfortunate thing is we are not able to have KCAC be the site of the championships this year, though it is secured for Jan 24th 2026.

There are still a couple of voices pushing for a sooner date, though the pools that are open are not as big as the current alternative. I am pretty sure they will be 100% for the Curtis pool in the next couple of days. It also sounds like the Boise team is willing to take updated meet entry files the day after Y State (March 2nd) due to our circumstances. I think that means qualifying times can be made, but I am not certain and have reached out to ask that question.

I also wanted to let you all know that I will be looking for meets that are open for USA Swimming sanctioned teams in the spring/summer that may be hosted at KCAC. We've been there in the Spring before with the Dick LaFave long course meet, so that is one meet I think we may be able to attend if it is hosted again this year (not currently up with PNS, the local organization for our PNW USA Swimming scene). Ideally I would like to also find something SCY since we are more used to those distances, but nothing is up yet from other teams. The perk of being dual YMCA/USA is we get to have both sides of swimming, something our team used to not be able to do back when I swam!

I'll continue to keep you all updated as I receive more info, and here is the latest message from Y State's meet director:

"
