September 29th Update: Hazen meet deadline today, meet results, and more

Good afternoon Tritons,

Our team just completed their first swim meet coming back from the break, and we could not be off to a better start! Many swims were right on personal best pace, or even best times. Overall, we had 17 swimmers attend and 40 new best times! Biggest time drop of the meet goes to Rowan with a 32 second drop in the 100 Fly! 

In addition to this, we had a few new qualifying swims for Y Regionals in Boise, congratulations to these swimmers:

  • Ezra Dryden qualified in the 100 Back and 100 Breast
  • Ella Inman qualified in the 100 Back
  • Landon Taylor qualified in the 200 Free
  • Michael Veltri in the 50 Back
  • Caroline Veltri in the 50 Back and 100 Breast
  • Merrick Weishaar in the 100 Free and 50 Back
  • Weston Weishaar in the 100 Breast and 100 Fly

Very strong start to the season, and great comradery and teambuilding during competition! It was great to see the team at a meet again and having fun with it.

Now onto the upcoming events/deadlines:

  • The registration deadline for the Hazen meet is tonight at 11:59pm. No real wiggle room on this, I will be sending the meet entry file shortly after our morning swim session around 7am. Please let me know if you need help with registration!
    • Register for the meet using our calendar event page, [linked here] 
  • The Skagit YMCA Spooktacular is looking for swim team volunteers to lead activities for the community! Please let me know if your swimmer is interested in helping by sending me an email
    • They will need responsible swimmers to help with the lazy river, teaching pool, and lap pool
    • They are planning to run a themed relay race if we have enough swimmers interested
    • Swimmers participating in any of those activities receive a Triton challenge point, (reward system here)
  • Our SVYT Trunk or Treat event is on the 29th of October!

Note on upcoming practice schedule:

We will be having a combined practice next week Wednesday, October 8th. October 1st will be normal practice hours. I have updated our event calendar to reflect this! The combined practice will be a mentor swim day with a game at the end.
