October 22 Update: Confirmed Everett meet, Poinsettia fundraiser, and more
Good morning Tritons,
Happy Wednesday! Already closing on the end of October, and it feels like we just got started. Quick thank you to our Tritons and families that helped with the Skagit YMCA's Spooktacular! I have heard great things about aquatics and several compliments saying how nice and enthusiastic our swimmers were. Very proud to hear our reputation extending beyond competition!
Yesterday evening, I attended a PSSA board meeting and was able to confirm a few details with our upcoming meet schedule:
- The Snohomish YMCA will be hosting their November meet at the Everett pool on Sunday, November 16.
- They are finalizing the details, and shared that it will be an early morning like the previous meet there
- I will not be able to attend myself, so I will be reaching out to coaches to see if we have availability to go
- Y State has the minimum Y meet requirement set to 2 instead of 3. Because last year was set to 2, and there was no indication to go back to the 3 meet standard, the board decided we would only require 2 Y meets to be eligible for Y State. They will discuss potential changes after the championship season and what the requirements are going forward.
Additionally, I confirmed the following this morning:
- Our Poinsettia fundraiser with Van Wingerden will have a due date of November 21 at 7:00pm, so that I can send our orders in that night. The delivery date of the plants will be on December 1st (time TBD based on other fundraisers, but probably in the early afternoon).
Those were the big changes to what I already had down on our event page. I will update that shortly after posting/emailing this newsletter.
As for our upcoming schedule, we have the following (event pages linked):
- Our annual Trunk or Treat is on Wednesday, October 29!
- All practice groups are invited to be in the water from 4:30pm-5:30pm
- Trunk or Treat will be located in the parking lot behind the pool around 5:45pm; I will have signs placed to keep the area for us
- Family are welcome to join the Trunk or Treat
- Last day of our Skagit YMCA's winter clothing drive is October 31st - thank you to those who have already donated!
- let me know if you are donating and what/approximate numbers so I can double check inventory with staff
- Deadline to register for the November Everett YMCA swim meet is on October 31st
- Waiting on meet announcement and files to be sent for event registration, but you can declare attendance early
- This meet will be Sunday morning on November 16th
- Our swim meet at Snohomish Aquatic Center will have a registration deadline of November 26th

- We will meet at the West entrance (not the dog park side we did last year).
- Y State is on January 24th at the King County Aquatic Center
- This is our State's big championship meet for YMCA swimming. Attendance is highly encouraged, as this is a great championship meet experience at the best pool in the PNW.

- Attended 2 YMCA meets since April 2025 (High school swimmers may request a waiver)

- Session 1 will be 1650 / 1000 Freestyle
- Session 2 will be 500 Free / 400IM / 200 Back / 200 Breast / 200 Fly / 200 Free / 200 IM
- The Last Chance Qualifier swim meet will be hosted at Stanwood YMCA on February 21
- Saturday afternoon featuring the usual order of events, "last chance" to qualify for Y Regionals
Additionally, we are looking into hosting or visiting Friday Harbor in January for a fun and quick swim meet. We will go if we have enough interest - this is catered towards younger swimmers and those newer to competitive swimming.
