Polar Plunge coming up! At Birch Bay this year

Hi team!

Got this message from the polar plunge hosts and thought I would share for those who haven't registered yet! As a reminder, we are planning to attend the world record attempt for the polar plunge this year (NOT at lake padden).

The registration link will ask you about the group you are with; I typed in Skagit Valley YMCA Swim Team. I'd recommend typing it out and not just the acronym so that the organizers know that we are together. I'm planning to park at the birch bay waterslides and then probably walk to the beach park check in.

Burr the Bear here 🐻‍❄️❄️ popping in with some VERY IMPORTANT plunge day reminders to help everything go smoothly and keep us on track for a record breaking splash!

 

First things first...

 

Current Count Update 🐻‍❄️

We all know you want to know exactly how many people are registered every single second… but you’re making my humans a little crazy! As of RIGHT NOW, we have 2,605 brave plungers… only 530 to go to reach our goal.

 

Remember, the event happens rain, shine, or even if we don’t hit the record—so don’t worry if you haven’t pre-registered yet.

 

⏰ ARRIVE EARLY, PLEASE!

I can’t stress this enough (okay… I can, and I will 😄)

 

🕗 Check-ins and day-of registration open at 8:00 AM

  • Even if you pre-registered, you MUST check in when you arrive to receive your racing bib. This is how we will officially count our participants.
  • Check in at one of the following locations:
  • Beach Cat Brewing Co.
  • Birch Bay Beach Park
  • Birch Bay Vogt Library Express
  • Pre-registration is encouraged, but day-of registration will be available.
  • Record guidelines make this year's plunge a little different. Arriving early helps everyone get sorted and counted correctly.

 

Bonus for early bears:

🎶 Live entertainment • 📸 Selfie stations • 🔥 Warming stations • ☕ Hot cocoa & more! Fun things are happening at each check-in location.

 

🚗 PARKING & SHUTTLES

Parking is available at:

  • American Legion
  • Waterslides (+$10 Fee benefiting the Blaine Senior Safe & Sober Night)
  • Behind CJ’s (+$10 Helps to Cover Event Costs - Managed by the BBIA)
  • Birch Bay Bible Community Church
  • Bay Horizon Park
  • Birch Bay State Park - FREE DAY NO DISCOVER PASS NEEDED

 

🚍 FREE shuttles will be running from parking areas to help get you to the action.

 

🧷 YOUR BIB = YOUR COUNT

  • Pin your racing bib to your bathing suit or clothing
  • You must be wearing your bib to enter the Plunge Zone or you will not be counted

👉 Please do NOT take a bib for a child who may not be able to participate correctly.

STAY OFF THE PLANTS ON THE BERM!!!
