Ribbons/Medals Awarded
A Dual Meets - MCSL supplies all A meet awards. Whether we are swimming Home or Away, all swimmers in individual events will receive awards for 1st-6th place. Duplicate awards for ties. At Damascus for the Free events we also award places 7th-10th. No ribbons are awarded for 11th-12th place Free finishes. It is up to the host pool IF they choose to award ribbons for places 7th-12th for the Free events. All Relay members receive ribbons in places 1st-4th. No ribbons are awarded for DQ's.
B Dual Meets - The Home team is responsible for providing all meet ribbons for awards. At Damascus, we award ribbons in places 1st-10th for all individual events. Participant ribbons are given for places 11th onward. No ribbons are awarded for DQ's. In addition, Damascus Heat Winner ribbons are given immediately at the conclusion of each race to the winning swimmer as they exit the pool.
A Relays - MCSL supplies all A Relays awards. Medals are awards to all team members in 1st place relays, and ribbons are awarded to all team members in 2nd-6th place relays. Duplicate awards for ties. No awards for DQ's.
Divisionals - MCSL supplies all Divisionals awards. Medals are awarded to 1st-3rd place finishers in individual events and ribbons for places 4th-6th. For Relays medals to 1st place finishers and ribbons to 2nd-6th places. Duplicates awards for ties. No awards for DQ's.
Award Distribution
Time Trials – No ribbons are awarded for Time Trials.
A Dual Meets – A meet ribbons are awarded to the swimmers by the coaches that morning immediately following the A meet at the team lunch. For home meets we eat at the pool. For away meets we go to a restaurant near the meet location. For those ribbons not distributed at the team lunch, Coach Kevin will hand out at practices Monday morning after the A meet. Any ribbons still not distributed will be placed in the team’s ribbon boxes.
B Dual Meets – B meet ribbons are awarded to the swimmers at Thursday morning’s practice by Coach Kevin following the Wednesday night B meet. Any ribbons still not distributed after Thursday morning will be placed in the team’s ribbon boxes.
A Relays – A Relays awards are given to the swimmers by the coaches that morning immediately following the A Relays at the team lunch. For those awards not distributed at the team lunch, Coach Kevin will hand out at practices Monday morning after A Relays. Any awards still not distributed will be placed in the team’s ribbon boxes.
B Relays – B Relays awards are given to the swimmers at Monday morning’s practice by Coach Kevin following the Sunday morning B Relays. Any awards still not distributed will be placed in the team’s ribbon boxes.
Divisionals – Awards earned at Divisionals are distributed by Coach Kevin at the swim team’s banquet that evening.
Ribbon Boxes – Our swim team’s Ribbon Coordinator, Julie Oldham, maintains the team’s two ribbon boxes. All swim team families have a folder (filed alphabetically by last name) in the boxes. Any awards not distributed by the coaches will placed in the ribbon boxes. Swimmers are responsible for checking the ribbon boxes to collect their awards. The ribbon boxes will be at the pool most days during morning practices starting Monday after the first A meet. Ribbons boxes will also be at the team banquet in July. After the banquet, the team's ribbon boxes will be placed in the Snack Bar until Labor Day weekend for a final chance to collect awards.
