2024 Coaching and Lifeguard Application
Attention Lead coaches and Assistant coaches:
We are looking for passionate athletes who are excited to share their love for summer swim to be mentors to young Sharks. Applicants as of June 1st must be at least 15 years old for Junior Assistant coach positions which will be paid and 14 years old for volunteer coach positions.
Role Requirements for Junior Assistant Coaches and Junior Volunteer Coaches:
- Arrive at least 15 minute early and stay for takedown for all practices and events being coached
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of practice, meets and social events while also being an active participants for all shark events
- Be a role model and positive influence on all athletes in the shark athletes on and off of the pool deck
- Make an emphasis to instill the correct technique, training and focus to Shark swimmers
- Promote a positive environment for every swimmer to be inspired to find joy and their drive in swimming
- Follows all instructions from Head Coach, Age Group head coaches, and Lead Coaches
- Attend and be an active participant in all team events, and if they have a conflict they need to notify the head coach or an Age group Head Coach in a timely manner
For rising seniors in high school and older who are interested, I am looking for 5 individuals who are enthusiastic about coaching and building community within the Sharks to be Lead Coaches.
Role Requirements for Lead Coaches:
- Arrive at least 15 minute early and stay for takedown for all practices and events being coached
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of practice, meets and social events while also being an active participants for all shark events
- Assist the Age Group Head in organization of coaches at practices and meets
- Assist and organize swimmers for relays and individual events at all swim meets
- Meet with your Age group coach at least once a week to coordinate practices and events for your age group
- Write and plan workouts for their age group to be facilitated by them and the swimmer coaches
- Build an inclusive environment all swimmers to learn, grow, and have fun
- Give direction and advice to assistant coach on how to facilitate the workouts and answer any question they may have
The application for lead and assistant coaches will be open till April 12th at 5 pm and Interviews are planned for April 13th and 14th. Applicants will receive an email with a link to sign up for these interviews the week before. Also Lead and Junior coaches are required to be lifeguard and CPR certified, if an applicant does not currently have these certifications DVS will cover the cost of these certifications.
