To swim for any program for the South Riding Swim Team you must be a member in good standing of the South Riding Proprietary (You must have a valid South Riding pool pass). Due to our agreement to use the South Riding pools we cannot make exceptions.
South Riding Stingrays is a competitive swim team and is not appropriate for swimmers who still require swim lessons. Swimmers must be able to demonstrate specific competencies and appropriate and safe behaviors around the water. See below for more specific information.
Registration normally runs from early March until late May. Programs fill quickly.
The team is open to children ages 5-18 as of June 15th of the summer season.
The cost for 2025 is:
- Early Registration (March 1 - March 31) - $240 for the first swimmer, $225 for any additional swimmers. $15 of the fee is non-refundable.
- Regular Registration (April 1 - April 30) - $250 for the first swimmer, $235 for any additional swimmers. $15 of the fee is non-refundable.
- Late Registration (May 1 to May 26) - $265 for all swimmers. $15 of the fee is non-refundable. Swimmers who register after May 15th are not guaranteed a team t-shirt.
All new swimmers must be able to demonstrate the following swim competency:
- 8 and under - must be able to complete one length (25 meters), of any stroke, unassisted.
- 9 and over - must be able to complete 2 lengths (50 meters), of any stroke, unassisted. NOTE that it is preferred, but not required that the swimmers be familiar (not necessarily legal) with all four strokes (free, back, breast and fly).
- The ability to swim safely in practice and be developmentally able to listen to directions from coaches and staff.
