Meet Our Broadstone Barracudas Coaches 

The Barracuda coaching staff is dedicated to the growth and success of the swimmers.  The coaches encourage goal setting and enjoy working with the swimmers to reach their goals.  Our coaches are especially insightful and are the best resource for questions or issues regarding meets, workouts and goal setting.

WENDY WEBSTER (Head Coach) -[email protected]

Coach Wendy was raised right here in Folsom, CA! She started swimming at the age 4 and joined the Folsom Sea Otters at age 6. She swam for the Folsom Sea Otters and Folsom High School throughtout her childhood. Her favorite events were freestyle and butterfly. Wendy loved swimming but she preferred to keep her races short and sweet – the 50 and 100 were her top events. When Wendy was 15 she started teaching swimming and took courses on coaching swimming at Brigham Young University and through ASCA. She continued her love for teaching after college and started coaching the Folsom Sea Otters in 2001. After living in France for a year, she returned to the Otters in 2003 as their head coach and started with Folsom High School, remaining there until 2007. She joined the Barracudas in 2013, after building a family of four with her husband. Wendy loves coaching because she loves helping others reach their goals and overcome fears. She also enjoys building a community and truly believes that a coach can make or break a sport. She strives hard to make sure that each swimmer feels noticed and welcomed. When she's not at the pool, you can find her hanging out with her family riding bikes around town, volunteering at her kids schools, reading, playing sports, cooking or baking and taking care of her dog and chicken!

Fun Facts about Wendy: She lived in Paris as a nanny and can speak fluent French. She loves culture- learning about people, their lives and trying new foods. She can play the upright Bass. In fifth grade she was on a game show called Scrabble! She has completed 2 sprint triathalons and loved them!


MARY ROMERO (Assistant Coach)

Coach Mary began competitive swimming for Carson Aquatic Club at the age 10 in Carson City, NV. She enjoyed a multitude of other sports to include soccer, golf and gymnastics but swimming ultimately won her heart! Over the course of her younger years, she became Nevada State Champion in many events, qualified for several Junior National cuts and was awarded Academic All-American status in High School. She went on to compete in college, swimming an unforgettable four years with University of San Diego. After college, she took a 20 year break. Now she is back and loving every minute of it. She currently swims in the Masters program four times a week. When her busy schedule allows, she still competes in pool and open water events. Mary has been married to her husband, Bernie for over twenty years. They have three amazing kids, Grace (20), Marco (17), and Carlo (12). She also works part-time coaching the Broadstone Masters team and is a coach for new teachers through Placer County Office of Education's Teacher Induction program.She is looking forward to the 2022 season and reconnecting with swimmers and families. Hopefully, there will be some new faces too! GO CUDAS!


JENNIFER BRINZER (Assistant Coach/Junior Barracudas)

Coach Jen was born and raised in Sacramento.  Growing up she swam at Rio Del Oro from the age of 4, earning high point her senior year.  She was a 4 sport athlete at St. Francis high school in swimming, basketball, soccer and water polo.  Coach Jen went on to play water polo for UC Davis.  Her favorite swimming events are the 100yd butterfly and 200yd IM.  A PE teacher at Sutter Middle School for 20+ years, Jen has significant coaching experience.  She has coached championship girls’ soccer and basketball teams for Sutter Middle School and coached swimming and water polo for St. Francis High School.  Her teaching experience shines through her coaching - she creates a warm, welcoming environment where each child feels free to learn, develop their skills, and improve.  A proud mother of four young athletes, Jen spends her free time coaching at Broadstone, coaching one of her kid’s sports teams, or watching them compete in a variety of sports.  She also enjoys hiking, running and reading.  This will be her second year as part of the Broadstone Baracudas coaching staff.  Looking forward to meeting even more great families this year who love the sport of swimming as much as she does. KELLEY BUNCH (Assistant Coach)

Coach Kelley was born and raised in Carmichael, CA and started her swimming career at the Glen Oaks Sea Lions. She started swimming at the age of five and had Roxanne Mefford (Broadstone Sport Club Aquatic Director) as one of her coaches. At the age of 12 she decided to swim competitively for the California Capital Aquatics. She attended St. Francis High School and swam Varsity swim all four years. During her swimming years she made All-American, Junior National, National and Olympic trial cuts. She continued her swimming career at Colorado State University on a scholarship where she continued to make some of her favorite lifetime memories for four years. Her favorite swimming events are the 50 free, 100 free and relays. Kelley currently works for Sutter Health. She has coached swimming for 15 years for various teams which includes Saint Francis High School, California Capital Aquatics, Rio Del Oro Rapids and Roseville Sugarbears. Kelley has been married for over twenty years and has 2 children who also swim for the Broadstone Barracudas. She loves coaching swimming, passing along the love of swimming to others and helping build confidence in all ages.
