About the Granbury SEALS Swim Team
General Information
The Granbury SEALS Swim Team is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to providing a positive environment where swimmers of all ages can learn and improve their competitive swimming skills. We are affiliated with the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation (TAAF) and follow their rules and guidelines for swim meets.
Our Philosophy
The SEALS is a competitive swim team committed to promoting the sport of swimming in our community. Our program focuses on:
- Teaching proper stroke techniques
- Encouraging competitive spirit and fair play
- Developing self-discipline and teamwork
- Incorporating organized games and fun activities
Beyond swimming skills, we foster a positive environment where swimmers, parents, and coaches can build relationships that promote camaraderie and friendships. Younger swimmers benefit from positive role models, while all participants enjoy a supportive and encouraging atmosphere.
Our team emphasizes:
✅ Maximum participation
✅ Physical and mental development
✅ Sportsmanship and team spirit
✅ Encouragement for self-improvement
Team History
The SEALS swim team started in 1990 with just 24 swimmers, practicing at the DeCordova pool and competing against country clubs like Pecan Plantation and Ridglea Swim Club. In 1991, we joined TAAF, and our practices moved to the Granbury Racquet House (Center for Health & Fitness).
By 1993, the Granbury City Pool became our home, and we hosted our first circuit meet, welcoming over 400 swimmers. Since then, the SEALS have grown tremendously—from 60 swimmers in 1994 to nearly 300 in 2008! Many of our athletes have competed at the state level, setting records that still stand today.
