Our Coaching Philosophy
- We believe that being a great PERSON is more important that being a great swimmer. We believe that developing champions in life takes precedence over creating champions in the pool.
- We love failure because failure builds character. We believe that personal progress in sports and in life does not resemble a straight line. Character is not developed by traveling on a smooth road. We are unafraid of the bumps along the way and we use those experiences to develop our kids into champions, both in and other of the pool. We believe that the best lesson you can learn is by failing. Failing teaches you resilience, grit, persistence, perseverance, hard work and how to pick yourself up again.
- We believe that swimming builds character. We believe that good character will inevitably yield a successful, well-balanced individual, well-equipped to face the real world.
- We are not result-focused. We are process-focused. We train our swimmers to enjoy and learn from the journey, not just the destination. We believe that there are more lessons to be learned in the journey.
- We are confident in the fact that discipline, hard work, consistency, goal setting, self-belief and a dream will build a quality individual who gets the best results.
- We love to win and we aim to win. We celebrate the achievements of our champions and we also celebrate when a swimmer achieves a personal best. A great aspect of our sport is the objective measure of time. Swimmers may not be able to win their event, but it is possible to swim a personal best time in any race. In this way, a swimmer can see obvious progress no matter if they are finishing #2 or #102 in the race.
- We believe that PADE-Supersharkz offers a training structure that if followed 100%, will allow swimmers to achieve their highest potential in the sport. For some, that "potential" is the Olympics or even an Olympic Gold medal. For others it means a strong mind, healthy body and the ability to compete well locally.
- We believe in and practice the principles of Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD).
- Our goal is to inspire our swimmers to "go for it" and make the most out of their time and to take great pride in their training and personal journey with us. We value EVERY SWIMMER on the team. Our job is to make sure they value their own journey through the sport (and that the parents do as well).
- We believe that it is just as important to “give back”, than to take. We will instill gratefulness in our swimmers and teach them to give back in different ways. We will teach our children to be selfless and charitable.
- We believe that lessons and attributes gained from this sport will last forever but glory and fame is only temporary.
