In their first ever Water Polo Tournament, the Piranhas played to a 3-0-1 record in the 10th grade and under division of the Brea Tournament this past weekend. Extreamly impressive as most teams were made up of high school athletes while the Piranhas were largely younger. Piranha Water Polo opened the tournament with a 14-9 win over host Brea, then followed that with 8-2 victory over Bulldog Polo, 10-6 win over La Habra, and an 8-8 tie against the Ayala team. The final Splash For Cash Total: $23.115.15 Close to $7000 more than last year and beating the previous all time High by almost $6000. This is an outstanding accomplishment. Coaches, Water Polo Players, Masters Swimmers, and alumni all played a big role in this as well as all of your friends and families. High School and Club swimming are usually a point of contention in most parts of the country. Here in California the late timing of High School season falls during the club Long Course season, interrupting training to prepare for the summer. High School swimmng also isn't necessary in order to move on to College Swimming, College coaches do most recruiting out of club swimming. Saturday May 10th the Swim to Win Foundation and the Family YMCA of the Desert is hosting "Just Add Swim" day at the Palm Desert Aquatics Center. 8 Olympians will be offering Swim Instruction, signing autographs, and providing information about aquatics from 9 am to 5pm FREE OF CHARGE. The goal of the event is to increase water safety awareness and encourage more people to be involved in aquatic sports.
