Competitive Program


The Saint Lawrence Swim Team (SLST) offers swim practices and group training for a wide range of ages and skill levels. Our mission is to create an environment of disciplined training, strong work ethic, and mental focus to help swimmers reach their personal best—and to develop the skills for a lifelong, healthy, athletic lifestyle.

Competitive Team Groups: Bravo, Alpha, Tango

Swimmers ready to take the next step in their development will be placed in one of our competitive training groups.


Bravo Group (First-Level Competitive)

Ideal for: Intermediate swimmers ready for more commitment and competition.

 

Athletes in the Bravo Group must demonstrate proficiency in all four strokes, as well as basic starts and turns. This group emphasizes increased training intensity, improved technique, and swim meet preparation.

  • Meets: Highly encouraged
  • Focus: Technique refinement, drills, and introductory endurance training
  • Practice Schedule: 45 minutes, 5 days a week

Alpha Group (Second-Level Competitive)

Ideal for: Advanced swimmers with strong competitive skills and qualifying times.

 

Swimmers in the Alpha Group must have achieved "A" times or better in official meets. This group is focused on rigorous training, high performance, and mandatory competition.

  • Meets: Required
  • Focus: Race pace training, advanced drills, and endurance development
  • Practice Schedule: 75 minutes, 5 days a week

Tango Group (National Group)

Ideal for: Highly competitive swimmers, ages 11+, training at the elite level. Invitation only – selected by Head Coach Noah Bargas.

 

The Tango Group is our top-level training group. Swimmers undergo intense interval-based workouts, refine their stroke efficiency, and compete at the highest levels within USA Swimming.

  • Meets: Required
  • Focus: High-intensity training, technical precision, advanced race strategies
  • Practice Schedule: 120 minutes, 6 days a week
